Korean Air Skypass - iad to bkk in economy - 45 minute layover?

Looking at the different airlines korean shows the shortest total timeflying to bkk from iad, as well as having a fairly nice setup for econ passengers. Price is slightly higher than some other multi hop options but thats about it.

Only thing that has me worried is the layover in icn is only 45 minutes long.

Any thoughts?

Should not be a problem. ICN is very efficient, and you can make connections easily. Flying BKK-ICN-ATL once I had an hour connection shortened by a late departure from BKK. Still I had enough time to clear immigration into Korea and back out again, with the security screening too. Might have even taken a turn through the lounge before heading to my US-bound flight. You don't have to clear immigration, mind you, I just did it to get the passport stamps.

If you misconnect for some reason, I'm sure KE will take care of you. Last time I checked, there were two evening ICN-BKK flights, so if you miss your 45-minute connection, there should be another flight going to BKK about three hours later.

I've done USA-ICN-BKK in economy and business. Economy was a perfectly good product. KE is a highly underrated airline.

I've done and, next week, will do the 45-minute layover at ICN. As MegatopLover noted, should not be a problem and KE will handle the situation if the IAD-ICN flight is late. At worst you will wind up at BKK closer to midnight than 9pm.

As a side note, now that I'm Morning Calm, I notice that KE has kept an empty seat next my econ seat on both KE094 and KE093 (plus the closer -to-the-front seats are now available to me). I know that many don't think much of Morning Calm, but I find it a nice little perk.

Nice, Rampo. I'm curious, though.... From what I've seen, the qualification requirements for Morning Calm are high, so why bank your miles with KE rather than, say, DL? Easier redemptions?

I started booking with KE after Thai Air dumped the JFK-BKK flight, and after my first flight with KE, I knew I wanted to stick with them. (Thanks to KE, I also don't miss the TG flight nearly as much as I thought I would.) Since almost all of my flying these days is back & forth between WAS & BKK, I really didn't give much thought about Delta. I haven't tried any redemptions with KE yet.

There should be no problem with 45 min transit time as long as you are flying KE in both sectors.

Cool. So next question, it looks like the planes going from iad are version 2 plans, as are the ones to bkk so there should be power. Does that sound about right?

I often take the old C to BKK and the seats always have power. I am not sure about Y seats.

Is there a way to tell which Korea flights from ICN-BKK have the newer prestige seats?

I think they only have old business class seats in ICN-BKK sector. I used to fly with new C seats, but they no longer do so. I am flying KE tonight, and I will post if there is any update.
