For those who had been to Vegas before, can you please tell me if I want to join a tour to Death Valley, should I book the tour online prior to my Vegas trip? Or should I book the tour when I am physically in Vegas? Which one is cheaper?

I am travelling alone and would like to take lots of pictures in Death Valley, which company will you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Ida

Im not much on the group tour deal. The last time we rented a car, went to Beatty, NV, and spent the night there. Got up early, drove to Rhyolite, a ghost town, and then went on into Death Valley and hit all the high spots like Badwater, Devil's Golf Course, Artist Way, Stovepipe Wells, etc. When you exit (or enter) Death Valley on the south side, stop at Shoshone, CA and eat at the World Famous Crow Bar!

I know this doesn't help you much if your set on a group tour. But I will give you this advice on Death Valley if you choose a group tour......There is no way you can see everything in DV and enjoy it in one day. If you take a tour group, try to get one with an overnight stay. Scotty's Castle, Ubehebe Crater, Crankshaft Junction, and Eureka Dunes (where Star Wars was filmed) are all in the northern part of the Park and can be an all day adventure by themselves.

When are you going? The last time we went was on New Year's week. There was snow on the mountains but the park itself was in the 70's. It was very nice but got dark real early!

Also, be sure to stop at the Armagossa Valley Opera house. Alot of history there and even tho Marta Beckett is no longer performing, the paintings are amazing!
