Thanks. tff Sep 15, 09, 1:05 pm Definitely TP. Seat, IFE and food are better (please check other threads within this forum for additional info). CO only wins for the more consistent service. sbm12 Sep 15, 09, 1:41 pm Interesting...the same question posed in the CO forum received quite a different respoinse: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/continental-onepass/987000-ewr-lis-would-you-choose.html. CO operates the flights with a 757-200 which has more pitch and the same width as the TP seats. CO also has AVOD on all their 752s with a rather broad selection of films and music. I don't get the same impression from the TP listings regrading their IFE. tff Sep 15, 09, 5:06 pm Interesting...the same question posed in the CO forum received quite a different respoinse: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/continental-onepass/987000-ewr-lis-would-you-choose.html. I don't get the same impression from the TP listings regrading their IFE. There is naturally a certain degree of subjectivity involved here. Trying to stick to a factual analysis and leaving matters of personal taste and preferences (which always matter a lot), if one compares TP's C product in its A332s with CO's C product in its B752s (the types flying this route), the conclusions are the following: In what seats are concerned, while CO has a 157 degree recliner seat, TP has an angled lie-flat seat (even if SeatGuru wrongly characterizes it as "recliner seat"). As for the pitch, SeatGuru does say that TP has 50" and CO has 55", but according to TP its pitch in the A330s is 58"-59". Regarding the IFE, CO does have PTVs with AVOD with a large choice of films and music. TP has two different products: in the old A332s (CS-TOE, -TOF, -TOG, -TOH, -TOI, -TOJ and -TOK) there is a limited choice of channels non-AVOD, whereas the new A332s (CS-TOL, -TOM, -TON, -TOP and -TOO) have a state-of-the-art Panasonic system with AVOD and large. TP's screens, however, are bigger than CO's. sbm12 Sep 15, 09, 6:08 pm but according to TP its pitch in the A330s is 58"-59". Where are you finding this (or any other useful information) on the TAP website? All I can see about Executive Class is that I get a free newspaper and other such useless data. I don't doubt you, but I'm looking to get additional info that would actually be useful. IAN-UK Sep 16, 09, 3:08 am Where are you finding this (or any other useful information) on the TAP website? I would always fly with TAP, if it were not for the bus rides to and from the terminal. For all sorts of reasons, visiting carriers are way more likely to end up with airbridges. tff Sep 16, 09, 9:35 am Where are you finding this (or any other useful information) on the TAP website? I have to concur with you in the lack of online information regarding the products offered by TP, especially in C. The info I posted has been collected either in personal experience or through website and information sharing in online fora (especially Portuguese ones, like www.linhadafrente.net). http://www.tapspecials.com/eng/main.htmlI would always fly with TAP, if it were not for the bus rides to and from the terminal. For all sorts of reasons, visiting carriers are way more likely to end up with airbridges. True for narrowbodies indeed. CO sometimes gets a jetway, but even then all pax are obliged to descend the stairs and board a bus, and therefore the effect is the same. Widebodies can never get jetways at LIS because the existing ones aren't capable of handling them. However, the new ones in the North Pier of Terminal 1 will be. sbm12 Sep 16, 09, 11:52 am Thanks to both of you for sharing those links. I really did dig around on their site a bit and couldn't find anything. I'm amazed that they make it so difficult. heramato Sep 16, 09, 6:57 pm I'm amazed that they make it so difficult. Well... they are portuguese :D I would say TP is better than CO IMO. cdsilva Oct 19, 09, 1:47 pm I almost always use either UA (F or C) or LH (usually C) over the Atlantic, but just returned from Lisbon a couple of days ago via TAP (in C). It was my first long-haul experience on TAP, in an old A343. In long-haul comparison to UA, LH, EK, QR, TG, and SQ, here are my thoughts: Seat: worn, with some motor issues on mine and others nearby. Not great for sleeping, but better than old UA C and new LH C. Entertainment: large personal screen, but no AVOD. Screen image quality was very bad and the audio didn't work. Since the movies were bad anyway, it was not much of an issue for me. Worst of the above airlines. Food: excellent 4-5 course meal, with extended service. Since we were westbound, I didn't mind such a long meal. Overnight eastbound might have been too much. Although a C meal, I would rank it higher than F meals I've had in UA, LH, and some EK. Staff: friendly and nice. Due to the lengthy meals, they certainly end up working more than UA staff. dhammer53 Oct 19, 09, 3:53 pm I flew TAP 2 years ago on this route in C with the older equipment. Sorry, but allow me to editoralize  Seat Food I F entertainment FA's |
