Travel with Pets - Best vehicle, SUV? Wagon?

We drive 4 door sedans in my house (so we know nothing about sizes of SUV types), but my Dad has offered to drive my chocolate lab (65 pounds) to his house from Memphis to Florida for us while our house being shown for sale...

What SUV, Wagon, or Minivan would anyone reccomend for the 900 mile trek?

She's a good traveller in the car (no puking) looks out the window and then lies down after a while, but I still want her to have stretching out room (fold down flat seats?).

Any suggestions I would love to hear!

Is your dad renting this vehicle?

Since he is gracious enough to make the long drive, I will be paying for the rental.

Depending on your budget In would think that any of the choices would be suitable for a 65 pound dog. I would ask your dad what type of vehicle he would enjoy driving for a 900 mile trip. Needless to say, a station wagon would be the most comfortable and feel closest to driving a car.

A station wagon would also offer your dog the best view out of the side & rear windows and most have a fold down seat which you may or may not opt to use. You would have to check out whether the rear seat folds down yourself before renting.
