If you purchased tickets on YX to YYZ prior to them discontinuing service and have been re-scheduled to Air Canada watch out...My wife and I had no problem leaving Milwaukee on the rescheduled Air Canada flight to Toronto last week, but when we showed up at Pearson this week we ran into major problems.
In MKE we were given receipts and told that we were going to need to present these to the Air Canada desk when we checked-in in Toronto, which we did, but the agent ran into major problems...He called over a supervisor, who then called a help desk...it all ended after about 20 minutes standing at the check-in desk with my wife and I being denied seating on the plane because Air Canada had a policy posted that they were not to honor tickets from YX issued after some time in 2007.
Now, this situation was rectified with a phone call to Midwest who apparently tried to talk to Air Canada, but ended up putting us on a NW flight to MSP and connection to MKE, but needless to say it was a surprise at 6:30 in the morning.
I am not sure what the root cause to the issue was, but I would do your best to confirm that YX has compensated Air Canada for the itinerary that you have been transitioned to...The Air Canada supervisor basically told us that we had flown into the country for free and was none to happy about it.
