All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - How to get reward waitlist confirmed?

I read a bit on the topic in this forum so here is my situation:

1. No status on ANA. Transferred AMEX points to get reward tickets.
2. Waitlisted to leave HKG to KIX in early Oct on ANA economy class

I have my tickets confirmed on another date already.

I am a platinum member on US Air (but not my flying partner and we made separate reservations) but I am not sure if this will help. I read something about calling ANA to send my request to the "Tokyo controller" but I am not sure how I can request this - i.e. Should I just call them up and ask? Is this a reasonable request at all?

Currently there is one person ahead of me on that waitlist.

Thanks for any help!

Check on www.seatcounter.com whether there are still commerical seats available. If so, call reservations and ask them to send a message to revenue management. I would be surprised if you flight in Y doesn't confirm...

You could also check yourself as often as you can if ANA's computer releases a seat before seats are given to waitlisted passengers. This sometimes happens.

Oct. 10-12 is a three-day holiday weekend in Japan. If your trip is around these dates, I would think ANA may not be so willing to release a seat.

I called ANA just now. They said it's still in the computer system and cannot do anything. They said I must wait till someone cancels before I can get my seats confirmed.

Should I call again and try a different representative? Or pretty much I am going to get stuck in the computer system until someone cancels?

Thanks again!

You can ask ANA agent to put your US gold number into the system. You can therefore be put in higher priority.

Now I am the one who is still on the waiting list - My wife's seat got cleared!

I know this is a silly question, but I really want to know is there any way that can help me to clear my seat too?

Or pretty much it's a waiting game?

Clearing seats is all inventory controlled by the GDS. As the date approaches they will open more of your inventory if people aren't purchasing seats. Anyone with ANA status will clear before you.

Unfortunately, unlike other *A airlines like UA or LH, NH (and AC) are less likely to open up award seats, even when the departure date comes closer. That was so even with me with NH SFC+PLT status.

All the best wishes for your success, but make sure you have plan B.
