I've got a hefty layover in MAD and would like to get some work done followed by a quality adult beverage before my BusFirst flight back to YYZ. *A website (http://www.staralliance.com/airport_page.do?language=en&airport=MAD&country=ES) shows a "contract" lounge close by in the T1 section and a *G lounge in T2. I've found conflicting data online. Any personal experience with either of these?

The STAR lounge would be the Spannair and would be used by that carrier and any other STAR partners flying from T2. The contract lounge(s) would be used by the STAR carriers flying from T1. Using your own link and clicking on the various lounge locations clearly shows that AC operates from T1 and that its customers have use of the contract lounge in that terminal. If you want to use the STAR lounge in T2, you can try to get in but it will be a ways from the gate. Not sure what you mean by "conflicting". Both are quite ice from my recollection.

There was a sort *A lounge on the second floor that we used last year a few times when flying into MAD. You recieve the vouchers from the AC Bus/SE/E check-in agent. Was very nice though, large and plenty of room to work or relax and enjoy a beverage or two.

The T1 lounge is the Sala Cibeles which, unless they've done some serious renovation, is very large, with a great view of the tarmac, lots of seats, and not-quite-there catering. No problems getting in last time on an LX flight to ZRH, although note that it's directly after security, pre-immigration, so it can be a bit of a hike to the farther gates.

I didn't have a chance to check out the Spanair lounge, but it seemed like it was even more of a distance out, whether or not you can get to T2 from T1 on the airside. But the Sala Cibeles is nice, certainly more so than the other contract lounges I've seen in Europe.

Reassuring to hear that the T1 lounge is decent and accessible. Thanks for all the info.
