Ahh, it's the "Welcome, Southwest" bonus. As usual, my computer here at work doesn't let me sign up for these promos online. Not sure if it's the ancient browser I'm prohibited from upgrading, or my cookie settings, or what. So I enrolled via phone.

Has anyone see if AirTran has a similar WN-targeted offer yet such as double A+ credits to PHX/LAS/MCO/TPA/BWI this fall?

I did notice the first day of the promo, which also happens to be WN's first day of ops at MKE.

Though I have not noticed any bonus for AirTran credits in response to Southwest's arrival at MKE, FL has a current promo, in response to Southwest at BOS, which offers free WiFi on BOS-BWI flights. Perhaps this will be FL's response at MKE, as well.

The fares listed in this link also correspond with the Southwest fare sale announced yesterday.

One would think FL will take some sort of action to defend what it is building in MKE. Some of AirTran's reasoning for building up MKE was to attract more passengers from northern Illinois. Those are some of the same passengers that have desired a Southwest presence at an alternative Chicago-area airport. MKE fits that bill for those who live in the northern 'burbs. It will be interesting to see how all of this sorts out.
