What a shame, I found this a very useful codeshare for me.
Anybody know why this is being stopped?

Not only did I find it useful, but the 01:00 flight from TLV was on a 321 without 'real' business class seats, but which had armrests which could be raised up. I found the business class was usually quite empty and could get them to block out a whole row, which meant I could sleep properly, which is most definitely not possible on EL AL's 737 seats!

I would guess that the reason is the fact that now SN is LH-owned (well, LH has a large stake in it), and LH and LY are not on so good terms.

What do you mean by "not on so good terms", are they so mad with each other, to stop any codeshare flights with a airline that they hold a stake in?

It doesn't seem that it has anything to do with any bad blood between LH and LY. Around October 24 SN is being absorbed by LH and many of the current bilateral agreements are being terminated:

EL AL might have wanted to avoid an Antitrust ruling against the TLV-BRU Code-share Agreement that was currently under deliberation as EL AL probably knew it doesn't meet the criteria of being exempt.EL AL also "voluntarily" discontinued agreements with SAA to JNB, RO to OTP and a bunch of other routes under investigation and was coerced by Antitrust Chief Ronit Kan to discontinue agreements for a half a dozen other destinations (WAW,VIE,KBP,DNK,SOF).

Following the decision by the Restrictive Trade Practices Controller, as of October 24 EL AL has discontinued its code share agreements with the following airlines:

Austrian Airlines (OS)
Lot (LO)
Tandem Aero (TQ)
Bulgaria Air (FB)
South African Airways (SA)
Aerosvit (VV)
Brussels Airlines (SN)

Therefore, Matmid members will earn points only on flights operated under the LY code until October 23, 2009.

We are working on renewing canceled agreements and hope they will be implemented by spring 2010.
