What a shame, I found this a very useful codeshare for me. Anybody know why this is being stopped? P.S. what's the source of this info? mikebg Aug 16, 09, 5:27 am Not only did I find it useful, but the 01:00 flight from TLV was on a 321 without 'real' business class seats, but which had armrests which could be raised up. I found the business class was usually quite empty and could get them to block out a whole row, which meant I could sleep properly, which is most definitely not possible on EL AL's 737 seats! ebzed Aug 16, 09, 7:29 am P.S. what's the source of this info? Anybody know why this is being stopped? P.S. what's the source of this info? I would guess that the reason is the fact that now SN is LH-owned (well, LH has a large stake in it), and LH and LY are not on so good terms. ELAL Aug 17, 09, 2:46 pm I would guess that the reason is the fact that now SN is LH-owned (well, LH has a large stake in it), and LH and LY are not on so good terms. What do you mean by "not on so good terms", are they so mad with each other, to stop any codeshare flights with a airline that they hold a stake in? seaskybound Aug 17, 09, 3:31 pm Still twice daily codeshares with LX Nexus 617 Aug 18, 09, 9:10 am Current codeshares between LY and LH-group airlines (or future LH-group airlines): LX codeshare on LY (twice daily to ZRH, 3-4 weekly to GVA) OS codeshare on LY (daily to VIE) SN codeshare on LY (once or twice daily to BRU; ending soon) LY codeshare on LX (twice daily to ZRH) LY codeshare on OS (twice daily to VIE) LY codeshare on SN (daily to BRU; ending soon) ------------------ BTW, when did LY stop flying its own metal to MSQ? yosithezet Aug 18, 09, 9:36 am It doesn't seem that it has anything to do with any bad blood between LH and LY. Around October 24 SN is being absorbed by LH and many of the current bilateral agreements are being terminated: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-aadvantage/978220-sn-privilege-ffp-ending-oct-24-2009-no-more-aa-miles.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club/959852-sn-privilege-becomes-miles-more-what-bd-diamond-club.html Sam The Man Sep 26, 09, 5:50 pm EL AL might have wanted to avoid an Antitrust ruling against the TLV-BRU Code-share Agreement that was currently under deliberation as EL AL probably knew it doesn't meet the criteria of being exempt.EL AL also "voluntarily" discontinued agreements with SAA to JNB, RO to OTP and a bunch of other routes under investigation and was coerced by Antitrust Chief Ronit Kan to discontinue agreements for a half a dozen other destinations (WAW,VIE,KBP,DNK,SOF). What is this "ANTI TRUST" thing all about? Sam The Man Oct 1, 09, 11:40 am The Israel Antitrust Authority (IAA) is an independent government enforcement agency established in 1994 under an amendment to the Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1988. The IAA, headed by the IAA's General Director, has a mandate to prevent the creation of market power through the regulation of mergers and anti-cartel enforcement, to restrain abuse by dominant firms of their positions and to preserve competition in the various markets. It is thus vested with the power to initiate civil and criminal proceedings and to order monopolies to refrain from acting in a manner which constitutes abuse of dominant position. While the IAA has an important enforcement function, the Restrictive Trade Practices Law also provides for any person to independently seek a remedy from the Court. An Antitrust Tribunal, sitting within the District Court in Jerusalem, has exclusive jurisdiction over non-criminal antitrust proceedings brought before it as a trial court or over appeals from General Director decisions. Decisions of the Tribunal may be appealed to the Supreme Court, the highest judicial authority in Israel. The District Court of Jerusalem has exclusive jurisdiction over criminal antitrust matters which are brought by the IAA. The District Court’s decisions can also be appealed to the Supreme Court. Based on its expertise in competition matters, the IAA serves as an advisory body to the Government and Knesset in matters concerning competition. In recent years, the IAA has been deeply involved, either through its formal powers or through advocacy work, in numerous initiatives to open markets to competition, dissolve barriers to entry and establish procompetitive reforms or new regulatory programs.
