Hello All,
It so happens that my wife and I (and a few good friends) will be spending a 4 days this November/December at Dreams Resort in Puerto Vallarta: http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drepv/index.html
I did a search of this board and surprisingly found no reviews. I'm surely not the first FTer to vacation at this resort. Any tips/comments/reviews will be greatly appreciated. I'm also interested in knowing about things to do while at this resort...
Thanks,

Dreams bought what was one of the best "old grand dame" hotels in PV....the Camino Real. We use to go when it was the CR. The beach is one of the nicest around.... the hotel was hit and miss in regards to rooms, but if you knew what to ask for it was fine. ( you want a room in the upper floors of the new tower)
When it became Dreams and all-inclusive only many of the old faithful clients left in droves. There are too many great places to eat in PV than to pay for all your meals at an A.I....plus they seem to be marketing themselves towards 30ish yr. old drinkers and families.....just the opposite of the C.R.
Take a look at trip advisor. The reviews seem to have gotten better after a rocky beginning....but I have to admit they almost look too good and I sometimes wonder about the sincerity and honesty of them.

Thanks, david4455. I thought Tripadvisor reviews were biased as well, which prompted me to pose the question here. I'll find out for myself this November!

It's definitely one of the best all-inclusives outside of Nueva Vallarta to the north. It has a much better beach than most in the area for starters. It's pretty isolated though, so don't plan on being able to pop into the city easily whenever you want. But if you're on an AI plan, that probably doesn't matter much. It's a pretty typical Mexican AI resort.

Just returned from a week at Dreams PV. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I will tell you that the reviews on Trip Advisor (which I dutifully read for the three months prior to my trip) are 95% spot-on. No kidding.

Completely agree - our group stayed at the Camino Real for years. Great location, beach and good summer room upgrades. Other than breakfast everyone ate in town. When it became Dream it was twice the cost and food in town better.
Too bad.

Agreed. Camino Real was the best kept secret in PV. We had a group of 8 that went every June and always bought the room upgrade. We were the last guests before Dream took over. It was just not worth it.
We now stay 1/2 mile up the road in a hotel/villa - love PV.
