Are there no regulations for a diversion in such a case? 6 hours is way beyong anything reasonable.
If you carefully read the ynet article on that, they say the toilets became
full one after another, which means that either they were not empty
before the takeoff (possible), Or simply people overloaded them.
I am not sure diversion, But its not looking that bad, and i am sure that
it was a little bit "enlarged"...
You know how it is, As soon as you hear no bathroom, everyone wants to go
there... 8-)

Typical israeli.... :p (In hebrew you say "With apologies you dont go to the supermarket!")
"Survived" - Didnt heard anyone died from waiting 6 hours for toilets!
I am sure if going to toilet would cost 1$ in the plane people would wait for
12 hours to do it for free in the airport...
(sorry becoming hostile lately, Maybe i develop something similar to Stockholm syndrome but on airlines that abuse passenger?)

6 hours without an access to toilets can be hell....... for well being people; but what about sick or older passengers? 6 hours is a HUGE period of time. Imagine you want to go to the toilet at noon before lunch...and you can't go before the end of the day...
"(...)To our regret a multiple malfunction like this happens only once every few years and we are sorry about this. This is the type of breakdown that to our great regret cannot be repaired during the flight."
And when such a "multiple malfunction" happens to some other parts of the airplane...what happens?
I guess the plane was one of El Al's modern 767s...

You really hate those 767, Huh ? 8-)?
I dont know how powerful EL-AL is but the article in YNET was removed,
According to the article the Toilets stopped working on after another in the first 4 to 5 hours of the flight, according to the description of the passengers
who were on the flight it was due to blockage....
I would also say that the Globes have bad translation from hebrew to english
or vice versa, since the hebrew one is more gentle and give different comment from el-al.
.... Happens....

I Normally do them on short flights to London/France, Personally i dont think
they are that bad, Ofcourse there could always be better ones...
If you take Iberia's business class (which is an economy seat with no one in the middle), They beat them even if those runs on a new airbus. 8-)
Always look at the bright side of life...

I don't "hate" El Al's 767s (what would this mean anyway?) but I realize that they are plagued by numerous incidents.... they are old, too old.
Regarding their comfort, I liked them actually very much; they were much more comfortable than El Al's 732s and 742s, at least in economy.
What is exactly the difference between the fact that the toilets "stopped working" or were "blocked" ...? The result is the same: there were no toilets available for many hours.
In the Hebrew version of the article, El Al's comment was the same; the airline "apoligized" for the inconvinience and explained that such kind of general incidents happened only "once in many years" and were part of the incidents "which could not be repaired during flight" (!).
Does anyone at least know why all this happened....?

Stopped working means malfunction, I ment by blocked as overused/someone throw diaper/Kids caused it and etc...
Again, I dont know how the article disaapeard from YNET, but there they
telling a bit different story as told by the passangers...
All i am saying, Things should be taken in proportions, And ofcourse the
passangers will make it look more than it actually was (according to ynet:
"Pepole started doing it in bottles and plastic sacks" according to one
passanger, but another one said "The crew closed the toilets doors in a way
no one can enter" so either people did it in the middle of the plane in bottles/sacks or they did it in the toilets that were closed?)
Not clear, I will try to contact ynet to see where the article went...

Does anybody know WHY this ridiculous situation developed....?
Obviously not. And, as with any other technical issue involving an El Al airplane, we will surely never know.
For "security reasons", I guess.
