I rented a car for a week in Sydney and when I returned my car they charged me about $200 USD more than my confirmation. Same service, same coverage, just additional charges???
I called and they said to fax my confirmation in which I have done, and still nothing now for several weeks. I am considering a charge back on the AMEX.
Any suggestions? Calls to Avis have been less than helpful.

What currency did they charge you in? If they charge an international currency and have a "conversion converter" on their site (I don't know if they do or not), it could be different now than before because of exchange rates being different.
Otherwise, after a week of no solution after faxing your documents, I'd dispute the charge with your credit card and let them hash it out.

Avis Australia will ALWAYS overcharge compared to your confirmation if:
- you have taken insurance
- have a one way fee
- or any other extras
If any of this applies to you then the amount charged to your card will always be higher than the original confirmation (which of course included the cost of those extras).
However, this normally is not $200.
But it is something everyone renting a car from Avis in Australia should be aware of.

My rental confirmation was in AUD and they charged me in AUD. I also had NO extras at all.
I plan to dispute the difference with AMEX. Thanks for the suggestions.
