Hi All,

I will be flying in Y for the above route. Is the A330 better or the B772 that is offered on this route?

Will be travelling with my wife.

Thanks,
K.

The 330 may be better depending on whether it is a 333, 330 or 33B. If it is a 33B (check your booking online or the schedule for that flight), then it will be the new Y and better (subjectively, I guess) than the 772.

If it is a 333 or 330, then it will be the same Y as the 772.

I was under the impression that all 333s had now been converted to 33Bs, and the that 772s have been retired, but I could be wrong.

Hi,

I just checked online on the CX website and did a dummy booking, and it doesn't say which 330 it is. It just says 330. Also I think I did a mistake about the Boeing, as it is a 773. Does the 773 have the new Y cabin?

Thanks,
K.

You are correct in that there are no more '333' (ie only '330' or '33B'). However, the lastest rumour is that CX has cancelled the plan of retiring their 772 and they will remain in the fleet for a while yet.

Personally, I will pick the 330 as a) you have slight chance of getting a long-haul 33B and b) you don't have to climb over someone/ has someone climbing over you and your wife as the 330 are in a 2-4-2 configuration.

Does the 773 have the new Y cabin? If the aircraft type is 330, 34C, 34D, 777, or 773 then it has old Y. If the aircraft type is 33B, 34B, 77A or 74A then it has the new Y product.

Thanks guys for the replies. I guess I will go the A330 because of it's configuration.

Hi All,

Looks like I will book the 330 for this flight as the timing is better. There is a 343 but timing is no good. Gets to NRT too late.

Has anyone flown this route recently? Does CX only use short haul product for this route?

Cheers.

It depends of your luck. It's a mix of 330 and 33B (with access to expert flyer or those service may able to tell the difference.)

I once did a change of 33B --> 34B --> 330 purely because of timing (NRT --> HKG ... for a 4 hour flight I am good for anything (Regional J may be better for that ?)

Thanks Chris for the reply. I will be flying in Y class and with my wife.

I have access to expert flyer but can't seem to see the new configs in there...Maybe I need to try harder :)

Dummy booking at J-class and view seat map is your friend to figure out 33B / 330 .. anyway they can be substitute anytime without notice

772 is still flying. No one wants them as they are the early ones (prototype with smaller cargo door, plus heavier). They decide to park and return the lessor the A340 instead

Hi,

Thanks. Yeah I looked at the seat maps and they are all old config 330's for this route. But as you said they might change on the day who knows :)
