Bummer. I am leaving on 8/31!
I was in NYC a couple months ago and one of these was going on. We really enjoyed it and took advantage! Waiters made it clear they were not fond of it though!

hate to be a sour puss but nothing on the menus are really that great of a deal for $50. I think SeaBlue and Smith & Wollensky are worth the $50 but not really any others.

^ Agreed. Some of these (Stack in particular) look eerily similar to their Summer Tasting Menus (or Winter Tasting Menus, etc) just more expensive!

I guess I will be doing a lot of eating out that week ;) Anyone in town in the mood for some lunches/dinners 8/31-9/3?

The CraftSteak offering is $10 less for a very phenomenal summer tasting menu. ^ The Restaurant Week website doesn't mention that CraftSteak serves family style and there's no "or" associated with that menu.

The Charlie Palmer one looks like the $50 Sunday Supper they've been doing for quite some time. My wife and I did the Sunday Supper a few weeks ago. It was pretty good and well worth the price.

I wonder if restaurant.com coupons will work on those. If not, then a regular fix prix with a coupon is a better deal.
After watching Top chef masters last night i feel like having a (reasonably priced) dinner at Fleur de Lys :).
BTW Aureole is on the list as well.

I have a res at Aureole and a Restaraunt.com coupon. I got the Aureole $50 coupon for $4 or $8 (can't remember). The coupon specifically says that it isn't good on their regular $45 pre theater dinner. It says nothing about the $50.09 deal, so I would argue that they must honor it (if challenged).

Went to Fleur de Lys on saturday. The coupon works on $55 fix prix (same as $45 but after 6:30 pm). Great dinner.

That was another rest that I was pondering. Not sure if you know but would you go to Fleur de Lys over Michael Mina? Thanks.

Never been to Michael Mina but I'll gladly return back to Fleur de lys especially with the discount. They do have some weak items IMO and their more expensive four course prix fix is not really worth the premium (based on what we picked so YMMV). If you go I recommend french onion soup and spare rib - both included in three course special. Outside fix prix the souffle dessert is absolutely excellent.
We considered Aureole but yelp reviews were not very inspiring plus we are not really wine drinkers so Fleur de Lys was a better fit.

I'll be in LAS Labor Day weekend so this could work out well for me. I'm still not sure this is much of a deal though. Our local Restaurant Week here in DFW is only $35 and many of the area's best high-end restaurants participate (although sometimes with lackluster interest and limited menu choices).
$50 in Vegas seems a hefty price to incur the disdain of restaurant staff and get a substandard dining experience.
Any thoughts on how to maximize the value of this at a great restaurant that actually treats its RW diners well as opposed to like second class citizens?

If you treat it as an opportunity to exploit the restaraunt, the servers will be PO'ed. I always find that if you order a nice bottle of wine or cocktails before you pick from the rest. week menu, the servers open up a bit because they know that they aren't going to be faced with a table bill that is substantially lower than they are used to. I also consider ordering off the regular menu, and ask questions about it. Sometimes I do skip the special menu. If the server thinks the only reason you are there just to get out on the cheap (even if that is the case), they will treat you accordingly.
My best restaraunt week story ever is from one here in DC many years ago. We went in to one of the nicer italian joints as a group of 6 and all ordered the rest. week menu and nothing more. Didn't order any wine, etc... At one point, the waiter said in spanish to the waterboy...."stop giving them water." He was not happy when I responded back in spanish, "why would you do that, my friend?" That was the last we saw of our waiter, and he even had someone else bring us the check.
Enjoy.
