Does anyone here know if Asiana interlines baggage with Malaysian? For instance, routing ICN-TPE on OZ, and connecting to TPE-LAX on MH.

Cheers.

If booked on the same ticket then they will. Otherwise you would need to be lucky for this to happen.

INCORRECT.

When you check in in ICN, show them your connecting flight on MH at TPE and they will thru check to final destination.

No need to be on same ticket.

Guy Betsy, thanks for your reply. It would be on two separate tickets. Do all airlines interline, or do OZ & MH have an agreement for this?

I think most "big" airline interline no matter which alliance they belong or even no alliance like VS, only low cost airline like WN cannot interline.

Most major international airlines (outside North America) interline with each other .. but some do not on some obscure routes. Many asian carriers will just happily tag your bags forward as long as you show them the connecting ticket. Same can't be said on the likes of US carriers, AC, and some European ones like BA !!

Majors of course do not interline to low cost carriers and vice versa.

Wow, incorrect in capitals. Actually, my info was correct. OZ refused to interline bags when I had a connecting flight on BA on a separate ticket.
I guess someone can be lucky but the airline is under no obligation whatsoever to interline if on separate tickets. Yes, it will most probably still work for the OP but he might not be so lucky. YMMV

In my experience most carriers were happy to interline on separate tickets in the past but many are enforcing the rules now or don't want to take any risk.

Sorry about that...

But it could be that BA in itself is the problem when they refuse to interline to anyone else that is not on the same ticket. So maybe OZ was just playing tit for tat.

Wouldn't be the first time. ;)
