Welcome to FT!
I work for National/Alamo at BWI, and I can say I have never heard of "standard." But, if it is an upgrade from mid-size the next level is full-size, so I assume that's what the upgrade will be to.
Full-size consist of Chevy Impala and Malibu, Dodge Charger, Hyundai Sonata, Volvo, Nissan Altima. The Impala and Charger are the biggest, so either of those would be a safe beat with a family.
As far as a double upgrade, that I can't answer since I'm "only" a driver. The next level will be premium, which is Ford Taurus, Chrysler 300, Kia Amanti, Nissan Maxima.

Standard used to be a 2-door Chevy Mote Carlo, but that cars isn't produced anymore. The nearest equivalent is a Mustang, but most Nationals call it a Premium or Specialty car. Chances are they'd just bump you up to a fullsize car. However, I once booked a Standard outright and at the counter they'd changed my reservation down to a midsize. YMMV but hopefully one of our insiders on the counter can specify a bit more (not that your contribution isn't appreciated Student_Flyer ;))

Once again Tuneman is correct! A Standard size class (SCAR) is a 2-door full size. Basically anyone that books an SCAR, will get a FCAR (full size).I dont beleive there are any 2 door cars in that range anywhere in our fleet but as Tuneman stated, it used to be a Monte Carlo or similar.
Thank you everyone, I will go ahead and use the one car upgrade coupon, and thanks for your help saving us some money !!

I just rented in FLL last week with that same coupon but ended up using the aisle so I can't speak to it's proper size use. One thing to note is if you happen to be Exec in FLL, they have the best selection of cars in Florida that I have come across! Last week the Aisle selection was mostly Kia's and normal midsize cars, while the Exec was Altima's, a Maxima, several mid SUVs, a Charger and one Dodge Challenger that I took.
Best of luck!
