Am booked on this flight in Y, and just looked on seatcounter. It shows 0 in all classes bar C and I (with 2 each).
Doing a dummy booking gives no seats available, which would imply that they have overbooked to their limit. Is this true, and what is LY's policy? What do they offer for I/VDB's. The next days flight is zero in all classes. Would they rebook from LHR?
A more general question: Both C and I show 2 seats available. Is that two or four in total?
TIA

Wow! haven't seen something like this before, KVS is showing that for the whole week (excluding Sunday), there isn't even a single economy seat on any ELAL flight from LON - TLV (other airlines don't look much better either).
I assume the alternative option for VDB will be some connecting flight (I assume from LHR), the compensation they offer is or something around $200 in cash, or a voucher for a free ticket (even if you're arriving TLV nlt much later than your original arrival time).
P.S. If you wan't to get yourself bumped, you can always call in advance to register for it.

Didn't know that. By calling and requesting, is that a definite offer, or can one decide at the airport to decline?
Also, if I register in advance, could they tell me in advance, before I leave for LTN, to go to LHR?

Its not definate, you always change your mind later, and decide according to the alternative being offered.
They can't tell you untill they about to close the check in, as they often have passengers not showing up, many times they check you in, and only inform you at the gate.

Fun.
Seeing as there are no options from LTN, you would have to get to LHR. Would they pay for the transfer?
Of course they would put PL's etc into C first. Can anyone tell how much Y is overbooked by?

They even pay you for a taxi home and back to the airport, if you wan't to go home before your re-scheduled flight (I've had it in TLV and BRU, I assume LON is no different, I also think that they offer you a hotel when needed), so I assume that they would for sure pay for your transfer.
Let us know, what you happened in the end.

Looking forward. This is kind of a private conv, as everyone else seems to be in Israel where it is already Shabbos.
Will keep posted, and thanks for the info.

Just spoke to LY in London, and the op said that there is no such thing as a 'bump list'. If volunteers are needed, they will tell them in the airport, or call the day before.
We shall see.

Well, I said that I would relate what happened, and even though I forgot, better late than never, as they say.
I arrived 2 hours in advance. First security check was easy, although I did have to wait a bit.
Check-in was ok. I asked if it was overbooked, and recieved an affirmative response. I asked if they needed volunteers, and they said that they did, but they already had them. I am not sure if these volunteers checked in before me, or if they had registered in advance. I had called LY in London, but the person said that I couldn't register. Maybe he was misinformed.
One thing which was pleasantly surprising to me, was that all LY pax went through the priority security. It wasn't signposted. but there was an agent directing people (not very effectively, as she only told us which escalator to go up, but there was nothing at the top). Maybe this way LY can do extra security on their pax.
Return flight (on 02/09 to LTN) looks pretty open, so I don't think there is much chance of a bump.
We shall see.

Shabbat Shalom and Hodesh Tov (:p to clubman)Haha, my comment earlier was no indication to whether I was a shomer shabbat or not, so don't assume either way... ;)

By the same token, I haven't confirmed either way either.

I've registered in TLV at the reservations call centre (I think you could register there even for flights to TLV), what I usally do (have done it many times in BRU), is call the airport desk a day before the flight, to register with them, and upon arrival at the airport, I go straight to the ticketing desk, to find out what's doing

Yeah, I should have done that. Probably would have gotten me a free trip :D.
