I am flying SYD ICN LAX and VV in Decmber. I noticed that the 747 Pax version ICN LAX operates Mon, Wed Sat. What happens when they subsitute a combi for a pax in terms on J class - the combi has 34 seats and the pax has 45. Say, J class is full in the pax version and a combi is utlised but only has 34 seats. What happens to the other 11 pax?

I have booked my seats on OZ website and both ICN LAX ICN flights indicate a 747 Pax (I fly ICN LAX on a Sat and LAX ICN on a Mon). Would that be correct or is that just standard for all 747 flights?

Thanks

OZ's 2 747 pax used to go LAX on M/W/Sa and JFK on T/Th/F/Su. Others are combi. If suddenly pax version downgrades to combi at the last minute, then some passengers will be asked to change to night flight or via SFO/NRT or arrange to KE flight (I guess). But I bet they don't change equipment that much at the last minute. They set up everything around a month ago.

I do not see the combi at all on either the NY or LAX flights in August. AM I reading that right?

I thought they had 4 pax versions and 1 combi that only does runs within Asia.

No, 2 pax and 3 combi, 1 combi still in old seats, usually do HKG and NRT. But at a short of aircraft situation, 5 747 in total, 2 already in LAX, and 2 in JFK, anything can happen.
