Starwood Preferred Guest - 3 night stay in Munich: having trouble booking middle night

Ok this is a different question, but I don't want to start a new thread. And really it is out of curiosity. I guess I don't understand revenue management when it comes to award rooms. For example, I am looking for an award room on September 19th at the Sheraton Munich Arabellapark. I can book award stays on 9/18 and 9/20 separately, but when I go to look for availability on 9/19 it is not available for an award stay. But if I put the length of stay together and put 9/18-9/21 into the search engine there is an award night available for that Saturday.
You ask why not just book the three nights together? Well I want to use two free "weekend nights" and then points on the third night.

Could it be length of stay restrictions (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/6273622-post13.html) or that a standard room is not available on the one night?

It sounds as though the hotel is requiring a 2 night minimum stay if the Saturday is booked. This is a frequent requirement at a time of high demand, which Oktoberfest is in Munich.

So, does 9/18 - 9/20 free nights and then points work? OR
9/18 points and then 9/19 - 9/21 free nights work?
You have to book them by phone so the agent should be able to help you. Way to see if it works is see if points can book the 2 nights that I have outlined together.

I am assuming LOS restrictions Mr Cheap! I find it all very interesting and just enjoy the talk.
NJ- The only way to get an award stay to "appear" for Saturday is to put the LOS of 9/18-9/21.
I am aware it is Oktoberfest, since I am going for a Flyertalk Gayla ;)
I am already covered with a room on Saturday, but I will have to move to another hotel and then move back to my hotel of choice. Was just trying to keep in the same place for the 5 days I will be there :)

Now you know that is against FT rules! More than one night in a hotel?? Blasphemy!

Understood, i think but what is LOS?
Also you probably know to keep on checking as a room might open up.
