Women Travelers - Great at home or in hotel body scrub

I have used the Clarins body scrub for years but my friend suggested an at home scrub that I like even better. It's simple, cheap and left my skin feeling like silk. Brown sugar and olive oil. Mix together in a cup or similar container and scrub away. I was amazed how great my skin feels after trying it. I'm going to try it in a zip lock for travel. I wanted to share my inexpensive new pleasure!

Any particular proportions? Or just until it looks scrubby-ish?

I took one of Baglady JR's restaurant cup (so maybe holds 5 oz.) and filled halfway with brown sugar then added the olive oil until it got a little mushy (or better with your words scrubby-ish). I had a bit more than I needed but just used the extra on my feet, ankles, knees and elbows. I lightly did it on my face and it felt nice afterwards. I usually don't do a scrub on my face but it did well with a light touch.

Are you mixing in advance if taking it on the road or bringing a small jar of oil w/ you & the b.s. in a bag? Cheers.

I'm planning on mixing in advance but would plan on using it within a day. Otherwise, separately as you suggested would be best.

I'll have to give this a go; it sounds pretty good!

Also guessing that if one is in a hotel with a restaurant, perhaps the oil and sugar could be requested with a meal, for later use. :D

For your hands, you may also like to try mixing some table salt with Olive Oil. Same silky results. Almond Oil works almost as well. I just pour some salt in the palm of my hand and add a few drops of oil.

But, I hesitate to use olive oil in my home shower, or perhaps even a tub in a hotel, as it will become very slippery.

I've done this with sea salt and agree; works great!

Yes, the shower got a bit slippery!

I agree. Olive oil does go with just about any grainy condiments. Can try crushed oats or dried tea leaves (preferably black) with (almond or) olive oil too. But I do get a bit lazy when travelling and just pack a tube of "The Natural Source" body scrub. :p

Brown sugar and olive oil is a great body scrub.Something else I tried recently
was half of a mashed avocado mixed with double cream. Makes a wonderful
body lotion, although the shower gets a bit messy, so probably not ideal for a
hotel.

I love this body scrub from Kiehls. Grapefruit is the flavor I use.

I read today in cosmo that adding peaches to the brown sugar was a great scrub. They also had a combo of yogurt, champagne and brown sugar. I may be tempted to eat those combos or drink a glass of the bubbly while scrubbing away :)

I read this at www.smartwomentravelers.com under Body and Soul for the Hotel-Bound:
Body scrub: Add white sugar or raw (brown) sugar to the lotion provided by the hotel. Rub this on your body just before showering to create a nice body scrub that helps remove flaky skin.

I tried it and it works. I love the idea of olive oil also, but this other way eliminates traveling with another liquid.

And if TSA saw a brown sugar olive oil mixture who knows what they'd think.

With lotion it would be possible to just take some sugar from the breakfast area and use lotion from the room.

Sand is another great alternative if you are in any clean beach areas. But don't use any lotion or shampoo at the beach, it kills!

I'm a huge fan of Villainess scrubs:

Their whipped body lotions are gorgeous too, and they smell divine.
