Is there anything special near the California State Railroad Musuem in Old Sacramento? From the Old Sacramento website (http://www.oldsacramento.com/dining.php) it looks like the standard touristy restaurants.
Not looking for anything fancy, just something besides Joe’s Crab Shack or Round Table Pizza.

River City Brewing Company is good. It's in Westfield Center about 1/2 mile from the RR museum.

If you want to take a cab, or a walk a bit further, The Grange is quite good. It's a little over a mile away from the museum, in the downtown area.
Rio City Cafe is on the water in Old Sac and has a New American menu. You could also go to the Delta King (a boat permanently docked in Old Sac) and they have good food (everytime I go, I decide I should go more often) and they also have an actual playhouse downstairs with edgy plays evenings. The Grand Dame in Old Sac is The Firehouse restaurant which is quite nice and has prices to match.
If you want to drive about a mile from Old Sac down J Street, there's a block between 27th and 28th streets that has several excellent choices, my favorite being Centro with serious upscale Mexican dishes and a great ambiance at 28th & J.

You really didn't say what type of food you were looking for, but there are a lot of places to chose from in Old Sacramento (I know it is touristy, but that is one the few places I just love to visit). I only live about 20 minutes away from Old Sacramento.
I don't know if you will have children or just adults...if you want a pub like atmosphere (burgers/ribs) or something more substantial. You really didn't give much information to go on.
Regardless, I believe Fulton's Prime Rib Steakhouse (really nice seating...outside and in)....is open for lunch/dinner. At least it was.

Fanny Ann's has been around FOREVER:

There are a few pubs with decent food and California Fat's is there as well:

And depending on the ambience (and $$) you want to spend, one of my all time favorites (especially for champagne brunch) is the Delta King. We say the same thing everytime we go down there...why don't we come here more often?

Lot's of choices!!!!
Enjoy!
