Travel Technology - Wireless Router question

Are there any wireless routers that have the ability to toggle the wireless functionality on and off without needing to log into the router? Basically a button that could turn on/off the wireless without affecting the wired connections. G or N is not important.
Thanks.

Some routers come with a wireless card, you can remove those to disable the radio.

One thing you can do that might achieve the desired result is to unscrew the antenna. Some signal still leaks out and in, but the range is much reduced. If you choose to not use encryption (e.g., WPA2), this reduces the chance of neighbors using your signal.
I don't know of any routers with that functionality. You can log into them and turn off the wireless, but it's not just a button push.

I wouldn't recommend removing the antenna, in the long term, you run the risk of frying the transceiver.

Another option is to use a directional antenna and point it in a "safe" direction when not in use. For instance, aim it into the ground if on the first floor, etc. Not foolproof, especially depending how directional the antenna actually is, but also better than nothing.

How so?

The Draytek Vigor 2820n has a wireless on/off button on the front.
It is quite a sophisticated and relatively expensive router though, so maybe a bit overkill for home use!

I suppose it's conceivable---very high VSWR.

Wondering if you could use a wired router connected from modem to lan port of wireless router.
I'm doing the reverse, wireless router to wired router lan port.

Sure, just disable the DHCP server on one of the devices or you'll have screwy results.

Transmitting without an antenna or dummy load can cause a high standing wave ratio, which is inherently bad.
