I would like some suggestions for restaurants, cafes, and pastisseries near the Renaissance Place Vendome in Paris. Interested in those that are a short walking distance (10 minutes).

There aren't many sidewalk cafes in the immediate vicinty but the restaurant Le Souffle is on rue Mont Thabor as is Carr's Irish Pub. I recollect a small place called Gargantua that has some pretty good pastries. It's at 284, rue Saint-Honore which would be east of your hotel. Maybe someone else can come up with a few. Be glad you're at the Renaissance since the Marriott CES is under construction. Not bad at all, but a bit formal. Ferdi (15 meters from Le Soufflé) is another story: very trendy, good food and good atmosphere (not cheap) Between Ferdi and Le Soufflé, there is also in the same street a Vietnamese restaurant which has good reputation (but never went there). For lunch, Colette (famous hype store) is nice (the restaurant is on lower floor): short selection of healthy basics in a trendy atmosphere Close to Colette, at place du Marche Saint Honoré, you have plenty restaurants (and you can brunch at Au Pain Quotidien). Most of them are pretty good (and rather cheap, except for L’Absinthe,). If you like bling bling atmosphere, you can try hotel Costes (nice terrace, ok food, service which can be terrible). If you want grandeur and excellence, have dinner at Le Meurice hotel. VERY expansive but divine. Not so far is Drouant, chic, excellent and not so expansive for lunch. b1513 Aug 5, 09, 9:09 am Ferdi (15 meters from Le Soufflé) is another story: very trendy, good food and good atmosphere (not cheap) This gets some decent reviews and looks like a place I'd like. I'm going to give it a shot. There's also Chez Flottes which is on rue Cambon, close to the Vendome. Bobette lalala Aug 5, 09, 11:54 am There is also a new Pierre Herme on Rue Cambon, so you can always just gorge on macarons. nicolas75 Aug 12, 09, 6:35 pm This is not a restaurant, but this is a great experience! If you stay at Renaissance, do not miss to visit Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle (http://www.editionsdeparfums.com/), exceptional fragrances (you can find also at Barneys New York). One of the 3 Parisian boutiques is located rue du Mont Thabor. |
