I will be arriving on NZ from LAX for my first visit to LHR, traveling in C and on to MUC on LH with a layover of 2.25 hours.

My wife and I are BMI Gold/*A Gold (I also am with US). Our 2 well-behaved children are with us (also in C, wasn't many more miles to do so). What is our best lounge option? *A Int. Lounge (http://www.loungeguide.net/wiki/u/London_%28LHR%29_Star_Alliance_Terminal_1_Internat ional_Departures_Lounge), *A Arrivals lounge (http://www.loungeguide.net/wiki/u/London_%28LHR%29_Star_Alliance_Terminal_1_Arrivals _Lounge), BMI Int. Lounge (http://www.loungeguide.net/wiki/u/London_%28LHR%29_BMI_Diamond_Club_T1_International ), LH Biz Lounge (http://www.loungeguide.net/wiki/u/London_%28LHR%29_Lufthansa_Business_Lounge), or ... ?

Also, does anyone know if our arrival and departure gates going to be close to these lounges?

No showers in Domestic. As a *G you should be able to use the *A lounge which does. Also has better catering and drinks selection.

Is this the best lounge for a shower?

(assuming he's talking about the *A lounge):
the F section isn't really any different than the C section. And except for the lack of warm breakfast the BMI lounge is vastly superior anyway.

Lots of differing opinions out there. As you might have observed, I have done a few hours reading, searching and research before posting :)

Presuming you don't want to, or have to, go thru immigration and customs at LHR then the Arrivals Lounge is not an option as it's landside. The point is mute however as NZ passengers are not eligible anyway.

There are only two lounges in T1, the Star Alliance Lounge and bmi's No.1 Heathrow; both have showers. The Star Alliance Lounge will be nearer to your LH departure gate, but by a factor of five minutes less walk at most.

You'll exit Flight Connections into T1 airside just near the Star Alliance Lounge, so for ease of passage with the family in tow, that's your better option.

Thank you for the thoughtful and thorough advice. If the 5 minutes were NBD, would you say the BMI lounge is better overall?

Others seem to think so. Unfortunately this BD*G has yet to try it as I haven't connected to a BD or *A international flight in LHR T1 since it opened. My BD domestic flights to/from LHR mean I'm persona non grata.

I would go to the *A lounge for food and the No.1 lounge for space and views.

There's no LH lounge any more since LH moved to T1.
