My wife and I will be visiting Napa in November for our one year anniversary. We are looking for a restaurant recommendation for our anniversary night. Anything anyone can suggest would be great! We are open to the surrounding areas like St. Helena, etc.

Also, any other restaurant recommendations would be great too!

Thanks!!

Well, there's the world-famous French Laundry (http://www.frenchlaundry.com/) in Yountville, just north of Napa.

Good luck getting in, though--it fills up months in advance--and be prepared to spend a pretty penny when you get in.

But I've heard it's worth all the hassle and cost!

I think it's certainly worth dropping by Tra Vigne (http://www.travignerestaurant.com/ in St. Helena. It was my favorite restaurant of the trip. Get a bunch of plates to share!

We didn't plan far enough in advance for French Laundry, but we did grab dinner at La Toque since we happened to be staying at the Westin Verasa. Also a very good meal - great service, great wine - classic French menu prepared immaculately.

During a recent 4 night stay in the area, the best meal we had was at Redd in Yountville. Bouchon was also quite good.

The Westin Verasa has an informal cafe with excellent food prepared by LaToque at half the price.

There's quite a bit of discussion on this topic right now on the BA forum (I know, not the first place you would think of to check on the Napa Valley):
OT: Any recommendations for SF, Napa and Sonoma? (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club/980217-ot-any-recommendations-sf-napa-sonoma.html)

Mustards Grill, Tra Vigne and Bouchon are all my faves!

+1 for Mustards Grill.

On each of my Napa trips I schedule one of the supposed best restaurants for my first or second night (read fancy/expensive - all the ones mentioned here and the other thread) - and then always end up at Mustard's the next night having a much more satisfying meal. Not that the others are bad - most meals in Napa are good - and if you can get in, the French Laundry is cool to say you did it - but Mustard's just hits the core of Napa for me and is much more reasonable.

+1 on Tra Vigne. I also recommend Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen.

For an anniversary, I would go to Auberge du Soleil for lunch and Meadowood Resort for dinner.

I really don't like being negative, but I'm inclined to make a small warning. There's a lot of hype around about Ubuntu. Ms. 365 and I had a lousy meal with DREADFUL service there.

Do you have any view between Bouchon and Bistro Jeanty? We are planning to stop for lunch and wanted to try one of them.

So, here is what I have decided for restaurants for our several days in Napa (critiques welcome):

Day 1 - La Toque
Day 2 - Bottega
Day 3 - Auberge du Soleil (brunch)
Day 3 - Either French Laundry or Terra
Day 4 - Brix

I am leaning against French Laundry as I am not sure if it is an atmosphere we would like and the costs may just be out of our range. Especially with so many other great restaurants in the area.

Since you asked, we just went back to Redd and it was outstanding again. I think you are missing something if you don't try it.

Which one would you remove to replace with Redd?
