For those who may be interested, I posted the notice over here:

...but that's a very quiet corner of FlyerTalk. Apologies to mods if this is an egregious violation. *Poof* this if you like. :)

I seen where Hertz did buy the Advantage brand and believe they are trying to compete in the low cost/lower tier market. Hopefully they will be as aggressive in their pricing as Advantage used to be as I found it helpful in driving down costs in the airports where Advantage was agressive in their pricing.

Agree. Funny, for years, I didn't touch Advantage. Ironically, it was because their prices were so low, and they typically weren't "On Airport". I thought it would be bottom-fishing, "rent a clunker". Then they had a couple of obscure promotions (found here) in which I netted ~10,000 miles (program?). The cars were just fine. Not having the "On Airport" box checked works out to be the same as any of the rest. None of them are "On Airport" since 2001. More recently, their prices seemed to converge with the rest. (I never noticed they were gone, if they were...)
I'm not trying to sell them. More like explaining how I came to be on their email list, I guess. :D
I do wonder why Simply Wheelz would want them, as it seems that Simply Wheelz is an experimental model that's hardly had time to be fully tested.

Hertz outbid Enterprise to acquire Advantage out of bankruptcy. Makes sense as HERTZ is the only company that does not have a leisure brand. Avis has Budget, Thrfty has Dollar, National has Alamo, where Hertz is known as a premium corporate traveller brand, tries to be all things to all people, and advantage now allows them to do that, as well as dumping some of their high mileage cars to Advantage.

And Enterprise already owns Alamo and National.
rentalguy, will Hertz keep both the Simply Wheelz and Advantage brands?

No idea, I dont work for HERTZ :)
There is value in the Advantage brand for HERTZ as a regional leisure brand, so I think they will invest and expand it to a few more markets. Not sure about Simply Wheelz.
