May be spending a week in Scottdale in Jan & was just wondering what to expect re weather. Will it be hot enough for sitting by the pool, sunbathing etc?

Many thanks

It won't be hot and can be as cool as 60-65. If you're lucky you'll have some 75 degree days.

It might be a little better than what DenverBrian said. The average January high is 68 degrees.

You can see daily average high temps for all of January for Phoenix here:

http://www.weather.com/weather/climatology/USAZ0166?climoMonth=1

In the first half of the month, it's never been warmer than 84 in Phoenix. In the second half of the month, it's been as warm as 88.

The average daily high temp in January starts at 66 and rises slowly to 69 by the end of the month. None of that is swimmin' weather in my book. :D :D :D

Just be prepared for cold nights, it definitely gets chilly at night even if its warm during the day

January is typically the coldest time of year here in the Phoenix area (of which Scottsdale is a part). It isn't unusual to have overnight lows in the mid-20s, and daytime highs around 60.

Best advice is to dress in layers. Even when it is cold, you'll rarely see people wear heavy coats, many don't even own one.
