MGM Grand, Excalibur, Luxor, Stratosphere and Orleans now offer ALL DAY BUFFET passes!
Yes, you can buy one pass and go in and out of the buffets ALL DAY. Go for breakfast, then have a nice piece of cake and coffee mid-morning, then go back for lunch, then have an afternoon bowl of ice cream and another slab of pie, come back for dinner and, just in case you are still hungry, maybe have a quick sandwich before going up to your room.
I suppose this makes some sense for a tourist on a budget - I mean, the prices ($29.99 per day Sun-Thu at MGM Grand for example) are far cheaper than if you actually paid for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, not sure I could, or would, want to eat at a buffet all day - especially at these (mediocre at best) buffets. Now if you gave me an all-day pass at "M", or Wynn, or Bellagio, or Paris...well, we might be able to talk.
Still, I think anyone who opts for these deals might woefully regret it - at least by day three as the paramedics schlep you out of the casino on a stretcher.
Just thought I would throw this out there for those of you who need to gain some weight while you are here!
I have a few prices listed on my website in the FOOD section if someone is seriously interested...

Good question. I assume they ask for ID when you buy the pass, and have to show your ID and pass when you enter. Or if not an ID, then your health insurance card.

In the case of MGM. As it was explained to me by their people, the all day pass entitles you to three distinct meals. They give you a punch card, and as you show up for each meal they punch your card. Each meal has a start and ending time. I don't know what other hotels are doing.

What an interesting development that you have reported, DMark. Luckily these buffets are not the ones I usually frequent. :)
Not even the MGM Grand? I could see signing up for the all-day pass if I were staying at any of the mentioned properties. Pass line a must, though.

As DMark stated, these are really mediocre buffets. MGM is probably the best of the lot. I rather go to Mirage Cravings.

I've only been to Mirage Cravings b/c I was staying at the Mirage. When I saw the price of this day pass all I could think was that was what 1 meal cost at Cravings.

I'm not the expert, by any means, on buffets in Lost Wages. I was comped a few times for the Mirage buffet, it was so-so in offerings and quality.
As noted by DMark, having this all-day pass option at the luxury properties would be a good thing.
This ought to be good for the casinos that do offer this option. It's a way of keeping players at the property.

what about takeaway? skylofts have fridges. :D
had this at an upscale hotel once, something like $15 brunch buffet that was 10-3, and you could come and go. i took a plateful of seafood back to my minifridge.

Unless the MGM has significantly improved the quality in the last few years, that’s not saying much.

I can't say anything about the quality of the food, but I can tell you that I would like this if I were there on a budget (and therefore unable to enjoy some of the finer restaurants)
I don't like to eat a lot at one sitting, would rather eat many small meals than a few big ones: being able to eat a bit, go have fun, return for another bit after a few hours, have a salad, let it settle then return for something else.... you get the picture.
When I eat more, smaller meals, I am actually consuming less than if I tried to sample things in one sitting. For people who enjoy grazing and not stuffiing themselves, this would be a boon.
That said... for some who fill mutliple plates.... why not just put Lazy-Boys in some of these places? Pay a little extra for the ability to take a nap between 'stuffings'.....

will need a TV too. Or since it is Vegas, how about a gaming area. LaZBoy, blackjack and face stuffing @:-).

They have this deal at Mandalay Bay also. I think it was $35 during the week, $40 on the weekends (but don't quote me!). The food there was not bad. We had a quick dinner there one night. I figure it averages out with the meal at Red Square the night before going for rather significantly more...:D

Interesting, Mandalay Bay might be worth it assuming their buffet has not degraded. But I haven't tried it in quite a while, 2+ years.

Hi,
I have always liked the Mandalay Bay buffet ( last there in early July) as it has a good selection, generally not crowded and good value for money. I also like the large windows in the rooms facing the beach/pool area. I do not think it has degraded much in the past few years.
$35 is pretty good value.

I remember the quality of MB's buffet being quite good at lunch as well, although it's been many years since I last visited.

What I remembered best about Mandalay's buffet were the grilled giant scallops. If that is still one of the daily dinner items then the all-day pass is definitely worth it.

From Mandalay's web site:
Enjoy Bayside Buffet all day for one great price!
Monday - Saturday $35
Sunday $40
Pay one price and enjoy one buffet visit for every meal of the day!

FWIW, I recently got a promotional email from Mandalay Bay with a room offer that included all-day buffet. I didn't realize they were also just selling all-day buffet passes. Very interesting (and tempting!) :)

Interesting concept. Would you still have to line up or do you get to go the the comp/passholder's line?
I generally like to try different places to eat so it probably wouldn't work out for me. Likely work great for those staying in the hotel, lounging by the pool, playing a bit, etc.

MGM's buffet has some items that are high quality: (1) prepared to order omelets at breakfast, (2) fresh fruit all day, (3) some of their salmon items, (4) salads which you concoct from scratch.
I had the misforture of staying and eating at Excalibur's buffet a few years ago--virtually everything I tried was substandard (and nearly tasteless:D), however, they had the best HOT SAUCE I have ever eaten.

Ahem, eating all day at Excalibur buffet is a glutton for punishment :).

They have an all day buffet at Circus Circus for $20/day. You get a bracelet (different colors for different days) that you can't really remove without breaking it.
I suppose they could also do one of those UV stamp things like the clubs do too...
Get to "bypass" the link on return visits (or at least there is a separate line for all day buffet people).
There are better options if you know your way around Vegas, but I guess it's a good deal if you don't. I could never get to the places with the cheap steak/prime rib dinners on time..

That's probably the limiting factor right there - you keep eating until your wrist swells up from the carbs, sodium and fat and breaks the bracelet signaling it's time to leave the buffet.

cheapos like me on their first day in Vegas ;)
I probably wouldn't do the all day buffet again though, only ended up going twice and felt limited to going to buffet because I already paid for it.
I didn't mind staying CC though, got my money's worth and their fee is just $1/day for local calls rather than the $10+ day at other places

That explains a lot.
I hadn't wanted to be rude, but was wondering why anyone would possibly eat at the Circus Circus buffet - but had to smile when you mentioned it was your first day in Vegas; guess which was my first buffet that I went to on my first time in Vegas back in the 80's? Yep - Circus Circus...and my guess is, that mac and cheese is the same leftovers from when I was there. And just a word of warning, also stay away from the Sahara buffet - it has the ambiance and culinary flair of an East German high school cafeteria.

The party's over at the MGM, according to lasvegasadvisor.com:
Effective immediately, MGM Grand has discontinued the all-day buffet special that enabled diners to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a set price of $33.33 ($39.78 on weekends).
