Wyndham Rewards - Super 8 - $8.88 promo in 2009?

Anyone know if Super 8 will be offering their $8.88 August Promo again this year?

I realize I'm bumping up a 2 year old thread, but I heard a radio commercial about Super 8 having some sort of promo, and didn't know if anyone else had any information. I immediately thought of the $8.88 promo, since IIRC, the promo was set to start on 8/8.

I received an email the other day (Friday July 22 afternoon) from Wyndham Rewards titled (before name substitution):

Down after a few other promos, it says:

Right now the Super 8 Facebook page (that both links go to) seems to only talk about some Baseball promotion (sweepstakes) that ends July 30. So I presume we have to wait either till 8/8 or at least after July 30 for that page to have something more interesting. :)

(I don't have a Facebook account, I'm just looking at the page as it comes up for someone not logged in. I have no idea if it looks less goofy for someone who is logged in.)

I checked their facebook page the other day, and just noticed the baseball sweepstakes. I'm hoping that they'll give more details before 8/8.

Uh-oh. While the official page is still 1 day away, there's a post there by Super8 which says: "If life is a highway, then you're due for a road trip. 8/8 is almost here! Check back on Monday to hear about our Gr8 Escape Sweepstakes, then let it ride!"

I hope it's not just another sweepstakes.

where is the great escape? i don't see anything but the chance to win some points - on facebook. that isn't the great escape, is it?

Nothing in this promo prompting me to actually stay at a Super 8. How silly, and how ignorable. (With tens of thousands of "likes" already, not much chance that any FTer would win the points even if every FTer registered. But for just some lame sweepstakes, I'm not signing up for Facebook.)

It's very disappointing and if anything, convinces me not to stay at a Super 8.
