Las Vegas - Newbie question about LV airfares....

I'm not new to Vegas, former resident in fact.

I'm looking to make a trip on short notice. If we ( me and wife) go, we need to be there for the weekend og Aug 21-2. Normally stretch it out to 5-7 days.

Dates are flexible, about Weds 19th-Tues 25th, give or take a day, or even two.

I don't need a car, can borrow one from a local friend if needed. I know the hotel I want ( Golden Nugget), will get comped there for 21st,22nd.

I could have booked this airfare for something like $200 RT (each), a few months ago, now I'm coming up with about $285 on Delta. This is Hartford (BDL) to LAS. Wifey was uncertain earlier, now wants to go ! The only other suitable airport is probably Whiteplains NY, New haven is a PIA, Boston and Providence are a bit far.... so BDL is desired.

Anyway I can significantly beat the $285 price ?

TY

Probably not. I have heard stories about cheap airfares to Vegas and I honestly have never seen them. In fact, I am not sure I have ever been there for under $300. And that includes two WN markets, IND and LAS.

Bottom line, is that it can't go down much but it could sure still go up a lot.
