Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - The Ghana International Airlines Website is an Embarassment

I went on this website for the first time today and am extremly disapointed by it. I think I've seen easier to use Myspace pages then this. Among my favorites:

- Numerous types including "customise" and "Experirnce"...the latter of which is on the front page.
- The schedule feature showing no flights on any days in the next several months
- The "Book your flight button" not working
- Numerous attempts to view other pages lead to the website crashing and the page being filled with jumbled code.

I guess the fact that their web address is http://203.197.88.86/gial1_1/index.aspx Should have given me a hint

We should learn never to post comments like these! It's an invitation for smart-arses like me to come along and say:

typos ?

and sorry :) but "embarassment" generally carries an extra "r" - at least on this side of the Atlantic.

and, errr, ditto "disapointed" and its p-quota

How weird.

To be fair, the address ghanainternationalairlines.com also works. It does however go to a quite different, even more broken site that - in Safari at least - features scrolling panels of gibberish, links that cannot be clicked on (including the banner advertisements) and an "Unavailable" book and buy service.

I suspect both are dummy sites being pitched to the airline by web design companies: perhaps they have mistakenly been put onto the real internet before being completed or commissioned? Or perhaps they have outsourced their web commerce team to bmi?

Best advice is probably to rock up to a friendly travel agent - there is even a tool on the website to help you find one. However searching for a GIA TA in London, or in fact anywhere in Ghana brings up a Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in D:\hosting\member\hourglass2\Fly-Ghana\agents\result.php on line 7
agents found in your area. message.

:D:D:D:D:D:D

to be even fairer, the site does say:

"you will very shortly be able to make Reservations, Book & Buy your tickets and more via this website."

hmmm...

.... but it won't be the first commercial website to launch in an <under construction> phase. Unfortunate move though.
