Air France Frequence Plus - Advice Needed - First Flight on AF

Hello everyone,

I'm travelling AF for the first time this summer, YUL-CDG-FCO on Aug 29th (77W and A320) and then VCE-CDG-YUL on Sep 14th (A320 and 77W).

A few questions:

- I have a 1h25m connection window in CDG at 06:00h on the 29th, I assume we will arrive in a transient terminal which will allow us to connect to the FCO flight in terminal 2F without having to go through customs, is it safe to assume we will arrive and depart in the same terminal? Does anyone have any advice on making this transfer?

- I am travelling with my soon to be wife and my recently married sister and brother-in-law on what you could call a "double honeymoon". I called AF today to see if there was a way to make an advanced seat selection so the four of us can sit together, but there is no way to actually get through to a human being on the number they provide in Canada. Does anyone know if the seats can be selected in advance of the 30 hour window (even if it's for a charge) and what my chances are of getting a "honeymoon" upgrade which airlines used to do all the time?

Thanks in advance.

You will have to go through immigration/customs at CDG, as you are entering the "Schengen Zone" (EU countries with open mutual borders) from outside. Also, as far as I can recall, you will also have to go through another security check: the TATL arrival and EU departure will (almost certainly) be at different terminals (2E & 2F, respectively, I think).

As Henry explained, you enter the Schengen area so you will pass passport control in CDG (and you won't when you arrive in Venice). Your luggage will checked in through to VCE though, which is where you will pass customs. Montreal normally arrives in the international section of 2F (never remember if it's 2F1 or 2F2!) and Venice will depart from the Schengen section of 2F so it will be a relatively short walk. You can find directions in other threads in this forum or there is an interactive 'view your transfer circuit' facility on the AF website. Henry is also absolutely right about you having to pass security again, which can take a long time at CDG if you are unlucky. BTW, DO bear in mind that you won't be able to bring any liquids with you in your hand luggage, so DON'T buy any alcohol etc in duty free in Montreal!

You can book them online. Enter your booking reference (or e-ticket number) and name in the 'view my reservation' and you will get access to the long haul seat maps. Sadly overall but luckily for you, the 77W is configured 3x4x3 so you should be able to get a block of 4 seats on the long haul. For the short haul (configured 3x3), there are no preassignments in economy so 30 hours OLCI is your best bet.

Probably close to 0, even more so as it's four of you! Enjoy your trip and honeymoon!
