National - Just made Executive
Cool, I just made executive
Now the bad part is that I cannot pick any of the cars from the executive section, as I only rent midsize because of the company's travel policy
:(

Even if you reserve a midsize you can still pick from the exec. aisle. Make a res. and at the top under res. details the 4th line down (Level of Service) it will say Executive Selection. Works for either midsize or fullsize nothing else.

Yeah, you're still good: keep booking your required corporate rate for the midsize. You don't need to book a higher category: you're just picking from the Exec Aisle now. ^
Awesome :)
I saw that my reservation has EXECSEL on the end
Let's see what I can get at DTW

It varies widely. My first Exec rental was at MCO and there happened to be Cadillac SUV's sitting everywhere, plus numerous other premium/luxury cars. I also have done a couple of SEA ones where the selections were far thinner: the best car would be a nicely-trimmed Impala.
My recent IAD rental was a brand new Nissan Maxima. I enjoyed driving that car quite a bit. The loaded Impalas are fine too - especially if you're visiting a client and would prefer not to be seen rolling up in a Caddy, even though you got it at your midsize corp rate. ;)

HA! I've often taken a more modest car because I dont want to pull up to a client who will immediately think "he's billing me this!?".

I was through DTW a couple of weeks ago and it had the broadest range of vehicles I have seen in three years on any ES - including LAX, ORD, SFO, LAS, BOS, PHX, MCO, PHL... The DTW selection was very truck-centric (lots of crossovers and SUVs; I took a Nissan Murano) but much better than offering seven Impalas (or Altimas these days) in three colors.
