LOS ANGELES, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Korean Air is offering more seats
from Toronto and Vancouver as Canada's new Open Skies agreement with Korea
takes effect.

Canada's Transport Ministry said last week's successful conclusion of a
Blue Sky air transport agreement with the Republic of Korea will allow
airlines from both countries to operate as frequently as desired to and from
any point in either country's territory.

Korean Air is upping its four-weekly flights to daily B-777 service from
Toronto beginning August 14, and will be serving Vancouver with a larger
aircraft, providing more transpacific seats between Canada and Asia. The
airline has replaced its B-777 Vancouver aircraft with a larger B-747, adding
more than 200 additional seats per week.

"With this additional service, Seoul and over 35 cities in China and
Southeast Asia will be more accessible to more Canadian travelers," says
Korean Air's Americas Marketing Director, John Jackson. "Canada has a very
large potential for us. We're anticipating increased growth and popularity
because of the new Open Skies accord and are preparing for it."

"The Open Skies agreement's effect will be noteworthy and it's part of
Korean Air's long-term plan for North America. We are encouraged by the
increased interest in Korean Air's products in Canada and are meeting this
popularity with more service," Jackson says.

There's a little more about the Open SKies agreement mentioned in the press release in this thread. (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/canada/975513-canada-republic-korea-reach-blue-sky-air-transport-agreement.html)

Finally. It took 8 months to go effective since both sides agreed on. What took them so long? So YYZ-ICN is now daily from mid-August till late-Oct and 5/w otherwise. And I heard YVR-ICN will be possibly increased to daily from late-Oct while current plan is 5/w.

Meanwhile Asiana does not have any plan to launch Canada route for now.
