AirTran Airways A+ Rewards - A+ Reward Elite Question

I was wondering if there are any elites here from the Baltimore area? If so how often do you get free upgrades to business class by being an elite when you fly?

I also will be taking the route from BWI to TPA most of the time if anyone knows about upgrades on this direct flight.

Also even if you are an elite and don't fly from BWI what is usually your chance of getting upgraded?

MY Upgrade Percentage, Free at the gate, is around 75% on flights under 3 hours. If I am flying a longer flight, i usually don't chance it and pay for the upgrade 24 hours before the flight, personal preference.

Your BWI TPA should get you the free upgrade well over 60% of the time I would think.

However ATL is unpredictable, I have been denied my Upgrade while FL employees were seated in Business Class twice.

Only a recent elite on FL, but I'm 1 for 1 on a route a few weeks ago up to PWM. I did have to inform the GA that companions can upgrade w/ the elite member on the same PNR, but other than that relatively smooth.

I am in the same situation...new elite member, and am 2-for-2 on MKE-MSP-MKE, with both flights being packed in coach (the Brewers were in town to play the Twins) on a Memorial Day weekend.

I have a number of FL flights coming up in the coming weeks, so I'll try to remember to report the upgrade success here.

In my case, the GA upgraded both me and my companion without any confusion.
