Las Vegas - Birthday in VegasView Full Version : Birthday in Vegas grbflyer Jul 19, 09, 10:33 pm Ive been searching on vegas sights and on here but havent really come across much to answer my question. We have 4 couples heading out the end of Aug and 3 of the 4 guys turn 50 that week! Look forward to the answers. aceman Jul 21, 09, 1:20 pm No one will do anything at all. Pretty much every second person there will be celebrating something. The only thing that matters is how much you spend. If you're (un)lucky you might get all the waiters in your restaurant singing happy birthday for you Italy98 Jul 21, 09, 5:08 pm Best bet would be to contact Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority http://www.visitlasvegas.com/ and see what they say. Good luck. odom4president Jul 31, 09, 9:56 pm i went to vegas recently with a couple buddies for my 21 birthday, at Hilton dinner buffet, couple waitresses sang "happy bbday" and i got a delicious slice of choco cake at a couple bars i did get some free drinks here and there JS19 Aug 1, 09, 12:15 am I don't think it's true that "no one will do anything at all". Several years back me and my SO went and stayed at Bellagio for his birthday, and my host made sure there was champagne on ice, balloons, flowers and a goodie platter waiting in our suite when we got there. That was pretty darn nice. Call your host or the hotel where you are staying and ask what they can do. gengar Aug 1, 09, 3:30 am Many of the casinos' restaurant reservation centers will ask if a special event is being celebrated when a restaurant reservation is being made. I've found most restaurants will give something like a free dessert. I can't imagine clubs or bars doing anything special. I know a friend of mine got 2 for 1 bottles when she celebrated at Pure, but she was also a pretty regular visitor. I don't think it's true that "no one will do anything at all". Well, that's because you were an RFB guest as per your other [posts]. ;) Maybe the OP is as well, but without knowing the details (is the OP even a regular gambler?) it's tough to say what a casino might do. grbflyer Aug 3, 09, 3:53 pm Well, that's because you were an RFB guest as per your other guests. ;) Maybe the OP is as well, but without knowing the details (is the OP even a regular gambler?) it's tough to say what a casino might do. Not a regular gambler, far from it. I found the best price for Sept 4-7 at the rio, when I called told them that it was my friends bday, she "upgraded" us to a strip view room at the rock bottom price of $317 for the weekend. Other than that no hosts no status nothing. I guess it never hurts to ask anyone when we are there. But if anyone has any pull that would like to help out would be greatly appreciated. baccarat_king Aug 3, 09, 4:44 pm Not a regular gambler, far from it. Hate to be the one to break it to you ;);) but, a "view-room" is hardly an upgrade @ RIO, and don't expect it automatically @ check-in. (They'll just assign you what is booked.... though, if you push, you should get the view room) What you do want, to avoid the most "ghetto" rooms @ RIO is a newly renovated room in the Ipanema tower. (Newly renovated = approx. 2 years since the renovation). A step up, would be a Cariocas Suite (http://www.riolasvegas.com/casinos/rio/casino-misc/cariocas-suite-detail.html) in the Ipanema tower. The Masquerade suites (Masquerade Tower) are very large, and the hot tub is hugh with sweeping views on two sides, but these suites are 'very very very' dated. (some might say "ghetto-chic") ;););) Of course, they are a decent 'free upgrade.' Voodoo Lounge is quite nostalgic (to me personally), but it's totally dated.. and there are much better venues in The Vegas. I do love Steve's restaurant @ RIO, and the Wine Bar @ RIO is still top notch, FWIW. Have fun! DMark Aug 4, 09, 1:35 am While it is true that they probably won't bend over backwards because it is your birthday, it never hurts to ask. Best bet is for someone to whisper this to the server and see what happens. As mentioned, sometimes a slice of cake with a candle, sometimes a free drink - depends on where and how busy they are and what their policy is. It also never hurts to mention it when booking or checking in - if you happen to get someone who is in a good mood, they might be inclined to offer some kind of upgrade - but don't bet the farm on it. As aceman said, pretty much everybody coming here is celebrating something - a wedding, anniversary, birthday, engagement, divorce, breast implants - whatever. grbflyer Aug 7, 09, 3:04 pm [QUOTE=baccarat_king;12168760]Hate to be the one to break it to you ;);) but, a "view-room" is hardly an upgrade @ RIO, and don't expect it automatically @ check-in. You're really the only one who can answer that question. Personally, if you don't visit Vegas often, it's probably best to be closer to center strip. But, that's only one man's opinion. I would probably go with Wynncore or Palazzo/Venetian. If you want another Harrah's property then Caesars, but preferably in the Augustus Tower. I guess it really depends on what your 'expectation' is with regard to location and hotel quality. If you like the 'off-strip' location of RIO, you might also want to look into some of the stellar deals right across the street @ Palms Place, which is quite new and has a great vibe and pool scene. grbflyer Aug 9, 09, 7:07 pm i was looking at Golden Nugget, really cheap deals right now, they have a great new pool area. Was also looking at Palms property. If money was no object id opt for Wynn/Venetian/Bellagio but those are way out of my price range. PH's prices have come down since I was looking a month or so ago. |
