I have a Hilton Amex and a Starwood Amex. I have several Citi Master Cards. I like to get a "fresh" Citi Card every sixty or ninty days. My Fico is 750 to 785. the offer for 30,000 delta miles , for getting the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card is tempting me . It would be nice to top off my delta miles. I don't want to have another credit pull, only to find Amex won't give me a third card. What are my chances? Should I close the Starwood card first?

don't know, but I was approved for the Delta AMEX card only to have them kill my 15 year old Hilton AMEX card without asking. Not a good tradeoff, IMO. Already have the SPG AMEX biz and a similar FICO.

Can't guarantee approval, but if/when you apply, don't take the "easy" application route (where you put in a card number,or log into the website). They will likely use the card you enter as a candidate for "product conversion", which will cancel/convert the card you enter to the Delta one.

Just apply "fresh".

If your score is north of 750, another pull won't hurt.

If they did the " product conversion" do they keep the same account number and history? that might not be so bad. As long as you get the 30,000 bonus.

Depends on if you want to keep your old card (in the case of the OP the SPG card).

You wont keep the same card number, but Amexes report that date you opened your first card on each subsequent card/account. The "date opened" on all of my cards reflect May 1986.
