JAL Mileage Bank - Can I leave carry-on luggage in the NRT lounge?

I will have a 12-layover in NRT soon that I plan to use to visit Tokyo. I will arrive and depart on JAL in J. Will I be able to leave a carry-on bag in one of the lounges for the day (arriving 6am, departing 6pm)? Alternatively, are there lockers at the airport?

Which lounge do you recommend for a shower and a breakfast? Arriving from SIN, no status on JAL.

Thanks a lot,

Shuly

I would caution against leaving it in the lounge. As I recall it was just a communal area with places to put your luggage. And during the day the Sakura Lounge can get pretty f'ing packed. It's not worth the risk.

There are coin lockers on the 3rd floor departures area. Conversely if the carry on is not that big you can take it with you to to Tokyo and leave it at the coin lockers there. I always use the Shinagawa Station and there is always a ton of lockers available. Even the biggest one is only 400en for a whole day.

There are lockers in the Sakura Lounge, but they are sometimes full when the lounge is crowded.

As NYCBunny mentioned there are coin lockers on the 3rd floor (departure level).

There are also staffed luggage storage services.

I'm not familiar with T2 or the Sakura Lounge but arriving and departing passengers are segregated at NRT and I'm not sure if you can access an airside lounge before leaving the airport for the day.

If you can't access lounges on arrival there are showers in the public area of the terminal.

Thank you all for the info, this is very helpful.

So no arrival services at all?

Although I fly to NRT regularly I'm not a JL flyer and unfamiliar with their lounges.

JL's Japanese language website is advertising a special offer of free access to landside showers in the basement of T2 for arriving F & J pax and status pax on international flights until Sept 30th. Hours are 7am to 9pm.

http://www.jal.co.jp/narita-t2/campaign/shower/

This suggests that there are no arrival services (e.g. arrivals lounge) provided by JL.

Great, many thanks! Google does a decent job translating the page (up to "When the congestion may not be used.")

As long as you have the boarding pass for your evening flight, you can clear security and go up to the departure level and the Sakura lounge for your shower. Unfortunately, it doesn't open until 0730, if my memory is correct and I don't think the public showers are open before then either.

:D

You obviously figured out: SHAWARUMU = Shower room

They've got the following sentence wrong:

"The basement of Terminal 1 at the reception on the ground floor shower room..."

This should read "The shower room reception on Basement Level 1 of Terminal 2..."

Thanks again for all the help. I'll try the lounge first and then, if it doesn't work, the basement shower rooms, or SHAWARUMU...

Does anyone have experience of going back from departure lounge to landside thru immigration ?

Basically, moving from depature lounge at airside to landside is prohibited in NRT, I think.

Whenever, I am going back from BKK to HNL, I arrive at NRT in the mornig, proceed to transfer security and stay the first class lounge(thanks for the status) for a hour or two with shower and internet.
I leave my carry on luggage at keyed locker in the first class lounge and come down to the security again.
I explain my flight is 10pm and they allow me to go back to immigration.
Clear immigration and custom and sometimes, I go to Tokyo using Keisei or sometimes I go AEON MALL at Narita.

When I used ANA last time, the lounge lady kept my luggage at their back office for 10 hours. So JAL can do the same(I guess).

I'm surprised that Japanese immigration can be so flexible but I guess it's security staff you have to persuade rather than immigration officials to let you go back into the arrivals area.

Yes, they are flexible.
JAL staff never recommend it to go back to immigration after proceeding to the lounge.
Also, it is not recommended to leave luggage in the lounge for long time due to the security reason(unattended luggage).
However, I have never denied to go back to the immigration through security.
Always, I showed my boarding pass and said my flight will depart at night and I want to do some shopping.
Even I say the same thing at Immigration and customs and never be denied.

By the way, I used ANA last time and asked to hold my carry on luggage at concierge desk until my flight time(also 8 pm).
Without any problem, she held it at their back office until my departure time.
I think JAL can do the same if we ask.
(I guess only first class lounge has keyed locker)
