Perhaps this has been addressed on the forum before, but I'm curious:
Just came back from a round-trip NRT-JFK in NH Y (hey, it's my money), and noticed that the two 773s have slightly different AVOD systems. The one used for the trip over has screens on the bulkheads, a 2-D flight map and external camera view mode, while the one used for the return trip has no bulkhead screens, a 3-D flight map and no external camera view mode, as well as some additional video game options. I remember having the latter system on a NRT-IAD run last year as well, as I was ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the 3-D map at that time.
Anyone know the likelihood of getting one system or the other?
I was actually a bit let down today by having the newer-looking system, because I wanted to get the daytime views of Alaska and Kamchatka through the outside camera...
Edited to add: "Old" AVOD spotted on JA732A, delivered April 2005. "New" AVOD spotted on JA782A, delivered January 2008. I wonder why they got rid of the camera...
