Citi Platinum amex comes with a membership in a Priority Pass and includes 3 lounge visits for free. Priority Pass does include many United lounges.

Amex Cent is unlimited free visits, which will solve most of your United problems.
Unfortunately, for plat you are out of luck - but why not try the magical all-singing all-dancing visa black? that will get you in twice (first 2 visits free), and then the rest of your 495 fee can be written off to all of those wonderful "luxury gifts" you get.
