Las Vegas - Encore or Bellagio Fountain View Rooms

I'm planning for my second Vegas trip and I'll be bringing some female company with me.
I understand that Encore rooms are a little bigger and more luxurious but seeing the water show from your rooms has to be pretty cool. Which is more impressive?

Stayed at both before, I'd say go with Encore. Nicer rooms, bigger rooms, it's just nicer

Has she ever been to LV before? If not, might incline toward Bellagio since the location is better for newbies or if she's a big Ocean's 11 fan. The view of the fountains from the lake front rooms is pretty cool. That said, the rooms at Encore are much nicer and there's less of that parade of tourists through the common areas.

Well yes and no, she's been to Vegas back when she was like 15 with her parents. Stayed at the MGM Grand then.
Is Encore that much nicer? Does the view of the fountains offset the difference? Maybe it would be better to just stay at Encore and catch a ride on the Eiffel tower and watch it from there?

Are we talking basic accomodations? In that case, yes Encore will be noticeably nicer. But if you are springing for a Lakeview Bellagio Suite, Lakeview Penthouse Suite, Cypress suite, etc, then those suites are newly renovated and the view of the fountains should be incredible. (I can't profess based on personal experience...at least for another month ;))
Since it's your second trip, odds are you'll want to walk and see other casinos, in which case Bellagio is much closer to everything else. If you plan on cabbing around though, this is obviously less important.
If you don't like having lots of kids or tourists around, then Encore scores a few points because of its relative seclusion and lack of children and strollers.
Overall, if I were you, and if you're planning on getting a basic room, go Encore all the way. The common areas are gorgeous, everything is brand-sparkling new, and the basic room will be nicer and newer.

I'm planning a trip where I plan to treat my gf to two nights in a lakeview room and 5 nights at the Encore (Couldn't get a 2/4 night split). Unfortunately, I can't figure out which would be more impressive. I think it depends on the person.
My thoughts are that the fountain show can be great the first time you see it, but it can get old quickly, especially with the low tech fountain music playing in your room. Then again, some people can watch it over and over again.
In direct comparison, the niceness of the Encore rooms will be more impressive than the Bellagio rooms. But the Encore can seem kind of dull and without the lively energy of saying even the Wynn. Then again, it is quieter, more secluded, and it's easier to find a restaurant to walk in and dine.
I don't know how much your girl remembers the MGM Grand and how fond her memory is of her experience, but staying at the Bellagio and closer to that side of the strip might be factor to consider.
Sorry if this is no help. It's hard to say if the fountains "offsets" the Encore's niceness. It depends on what's more important to you guys.

Let's throw one more into the hat...
My wife and I stayed at Planet Hollywood last weekend and had a Resort Vista room. My wife absolutely LOVED soaking in the bathtub next to the full length window with a fabulous view of the fountains! ... a couple of tealights around the tub and a bottle of wine made it a very nice experience :)
Just a thought incase you can't stretch to a Bellagio fountain view room.

Those fancy electric-without-flame tealights I'm sure ;) ^
Goosey brings up a good idea; can you split your stay? Spend a night or two in a Deluxe Lakeview Room, Salone Lakeview Suite, or Bellagio Lakeview Suite at the Bellagio, and soak up all the fountain shows, Italian ambiance, Petrossian, and Chilhuly you can. Then spend the other day or two in a standard Encore room and enjoy Switch, butterflies, and beautiful brand-spanking-new resort design.

Just got back from a stay at the Encore.
The Encore rooms are definitly nicer than Bellagio.
One thing we hadn't counted on was just how far Encore is from other things.
In Vegas you can't help but walk a lot and neither my wife nor I are adverse to walking but it really seemed like we were racking up the miles walking this trip. That's in comparison to staying at the Wynn.
Also one thing really irritating about Wynn/Encore is that there are no restaurants open late.
Having said that though, I'd pick the Encore over Bellagio.

Stratta is open until very late..... Pastas, Pizza and that sorta thing. Its the first restaurant you come across when you walk from Encore to Wynn

We've done Bellagio fountain view rooms before. Nice rooms, but not as large as in other places we have been (like Venetian). I found the room service there at Bellagio too long. We haven't done Wynne or Encore yet.
If your girlfriend hasn't really done Vegas before, I wouldn't advise starting with the high-end stuff like Bellagio or Encore. This is because you can only go downwards from there on subsequent trips, and if she's not sticking around for subsequent trips, then what's the point?
I'm thinking something like Mirage for the girlfriend thing. Plus they have an indoor topless pool (adults only). Even though it's indoor, take your sunglasses with you so your eyes can wander

I've stayed at the Paris Hotel a couple of times and obtained a room that faced the Bellagio fountains. This might be a very good alternative for you; you get a great perspective since you'll be viewing the fountain show from the other side of the Strip.

Encore hands down. Gorgeous hotel, wonderful service and most of all, it feels like you are staying at a resort as opposed to a casino.

Glad to hear that. We have booked there for our trip coming up.

Stratta is only open late something like Thursday-Saturday.
The only place serviing food late night on a Tuesday a few weeks ago in the Encore was the Lobby Bar and that was just items from room service.
