Hopefully they'll upgrade the lounge in terminal A then, because I think it's the worst AZ lounge anywhere.

Terminal C lounge is worth beyond imagination.

There's no space ,as of gates, in terminal A to have ST partners there. Besides, AF has a lounge at TB and Delta is usig TC for aircrafts stand and T5 for check in and security (as all other US airlines + EL AL). I guess they just might regroup at TA all ST partners operating at TB for check in and security. The + side is that there's a fast track for biz class and ST Elite + pax. The :td: side isthe distance and the corridors wandering between A and B gates. But I might be wrong as there are always last minute surprises at FCO.

For the record, as per TA extension in a "near" future to a state of the art Terminal, JC Spinetta from AF in an ironic way something like "we'll see when it's done...eventually one day" :D

Terminal A is set up for Domestic and Schengen flights. Do we have to check at A and then walk all the way around the terminal to C to get on the plane, or are they planning a complete redesign of the terminal and a new intercontinental pier?

Exactly.. how will that work? Perhaps like certain OS flights ex-VIE in the gates in the high 50s? With one Passport Control agent doing all outbound checks as people go through Security? But there isn't a single gate in Terminal A that is secure. Unless they make all extra-Schengen flights going from the gates that require buses, that would make everything down the escalator secure if they sealed off a way back out.

Btw, what lounge are you referring to? There isn't any lounge in A. You have to walk down the long hallway back to Terminal B, then go up the escalators to the horrible AZ lounge, or the mediocre AF lounge above Terminal B.

on the short term, no changes for extraschengen flights, I reckon.

Enhancements of the existing Terminal A, including a new dedicated baggage handling&screening system, and a new Terminal A concourse, east of the current facility.

Not a proper AZ lounge but a room which is, IIRC, part of the ATA business centre. Deeply depressing, even by AZ lounge standards. I walked in, spent approx 10 seconds and walked out.

Yes there are 2 AZ lounges at Terminal A. One is landside and it's the freccia alata lounge, next to the pharmacy. The other one is airside in the "gate pier" not shopping place after the escalator before gate 10 next to the restaurant
