All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - Accruing ANA miles on other airlines & Family Account

My family and I fly UA and SQ most of the time. I fly enough to reach *A Gold, but they do not achieve any status, typically. I end up with orphan miles on the children accounts- not enough for a transpacific flight.

Would appreciate other's comments on the family account, and also if anyone has any comments about accruing ANA premium points on other *A carriers (I usually fly econ or disc econ on SQ and UA, and wondering if I will have difficulty getting ANA mileage or status credit).
