Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar - Looking for hotel in Barcelona

Does anyone know of a nice reasonably priced hotel in Barcelona. We want to be close to the city, preferably within walking distance.

Indeed -- what makes for a fine, reasonably priced hotel for one person is a disappointment to someone else.

I can say that I've been happy staying near Placa de Catalunya as it's walking distance to much of central Barcelona and there's a central metro station there. On the other hand, it's in a central city area so you're going to get a view of a street or a building rather than beach and boats and water.

we just stayed in Chic & Basic in Born. The location can't be beat, the hotel was ok,pretty chic and pretty basic ;). I definitely recommend the XL room and no longer than 3 days there.

My friend and I are going to Barcelona (March 4-8). We thought of staying in Alex Hotel, but it is full. Could you please recommend any other decent hotels close to gay area? The max price would be 250 USD/night. Thank you!

End of last year, travelzoo had Hotel Majestic listed for an advanced booking rate of 149 euro included breakfast & tax and it was $ up to August --great location, passg de Gracia, good transportation, good walk to pl. Catalunya. -- I checked the hotel's own website, too.
