American Express Membership Rewards - How long does it take??

For a sign-up/spend miles bonus to show up? I'm supposed to get 10k after the first 1k spend and I've done that but haven't seen the bonus.

Also, they had my first 2,300k suspended for about a week before the points went into my account. Why do they do that.

As you can tell I'm completely new to AMEX.

And yes I did a search in this forum but wasn't able to get the info I wanted.

What type of card do you have: Platinum, Gold, Green, Blue or an affinity card with one of the airline or hotel programs? The timeframe for posting Membership Rewards points is typically slower than for partner programs.

Sometimes you have to call them because they can be rather slow with it.

I recently went throught the same process and this was what I was told. If you qualify for the bonus in one month, then get a statement, the MR points will show up on the next (2nd statement). I didn't like it, but that's what happened. Bonus and spend points showed up at the same time.

i had to call to get my 25k bonus points to show up, three times, cuz the first two reps said they would fix it but never noted anything in my account so had to go through it several times more to get them to actually approve it
