In general yes, especially when your card has either the Plus sign (belongs to VISA) or the Cirrus sign (belongs to Mastercard) but only your bank can tell you for sure. Sometimes you have to call your bank to activate your ATM card for international use.

Don't have a Canadian ehh card but our USA card did work without any problems in BCN and CDG and LOH and FCO and . . . It was easier to use the ATM then find someplace to exchange $$$ into €.

It works in Japan and Malaysia.. so I guess it should work then... I'll bring some cash just in case. The reason i ask is because, Japanese banks dont accept Canadian ATM cards. It only works at 7/11 and the Post Office there (their post office is like a bank)

No. I've only encountered the problem with "domestic-only" ATMs in Japan, and to a lesser extent in Korea (where only big branches with lots of ATM will offer an international one) and China (not all ATMs of all banks accept foreign cards).

I've been to another 40+ countries without any issues using my card at virtually any (bank-owned) ATM. Spain is one of them.

Great. Thanks for the info!
