I asked my friend to tansfer some of his MR points into my mileage account. But he found that he can only pay with points. He can not do transfer.

What does it take for him to do the transfer with his MR account?

He will need to log in to his membership rewards account and choose Travel and then Transfer Points to an airline. I believe the URL to get straight there is this one: http://www.membershiprewards.com/catalog/travel/newpointstransfer.aspx?tab=airlines&endeca_url=zone%3dFirst%2b-%2bTravel%2b-%2bNavigation%2b-%2bAirlines%26rule%3dFirst%2b-%2bTravel%2b-%2bNavigation%2b-%2bAirlines%2b-%2bLaunch%26style%3dFirst%2b-%2bTravel%2b-%2bNavigation%2b-%2bAirlines%26is_recognized%3dfalse&mrip=503%3a025E5F5710A0DF9C86EEDCDCA1DF8E26.

Pick the carrier where you want the miles to be put and click on it. Then click the "Link your account" link on that page. Put in the account number and your name (not his) there and set up the link. Then perform the transfer and pay the excise tax recovery fee.

What program are you trying to transfer into? Some are instant and some take a bit of time. I did it for a friend using CO and the entire process was < 5 minutes from start to finish and the points were in his account.

What type of American Express card does your friend have, and in which country was it issued? If he has (for example) a USA-issued Blue card, this participates in Membership Rewards Express and point transfers are not offered.

This is another problem. You can not transfer MR points into someone elses airline account. It has to be your own. If last names match it might work but it is still a violation of the T&Cs.

The last names do not need to match for it to work. Whether it is a violation of the T&C or not I do not know, but it is certainly NOT a technical limitation. I've done it, as have many others.

2nd on having transferred points to accounts other than my own. In fact, when I was talking to MR customer support on a redemption issue for someone else a couple of years ago, one of the suggestions they made was for me to transfer my points to their account instead of doing the redemption. So it seems to me that if MR customer support would suggest it, that it is a completely allowable transaction.

Hi

I am US based and was thinking of clearing some 100k points of my corporate card into air miles. What program would you recommend if I want to use them for domestic tickets?

I was thinking Continental? How is there award inventory availability? I am based out of NY. Alternatively delta or air canda, since I have *A gold status.

Thoughts?

If you want domestic tix from NYC, Delta has pretty good availability and they currently have a 30% bonus going on, so your 100k Amex would be 130k Delta- which is enough for 5 saver level tickets. Or 1 first class (for yourself) and 3 coach :)
