American Express Membership Rewards - Delta AMEX/Experian is a Horrible Experience

I've been trying to switch over from NW Visa Perks to the multiple solicitations from Delta Amex for the Gold Skymiles card with all the bonus miles, only to be refused over and over becasue Experian doesn't know how to do their job.

They have me commingled with several other people with the same name so my information on applications keeps getting refused. I got Experian to clear up their erors, I thought. I even went to wait in line at the Soc Sec office as they demanded, in order to provide a letter from them that verifies my name and SS number.

Guess what? They don't "recognize" the signature of the agent there so I'm still getting jerked around. Now I am supposed to go back there, wait in line, and "ask" them to call to verify. Not likely!

The people at the Soc Sec office told me, when the saw the Amex logo on the envelope and letter, that I am one of many they see with the same problem. Screw ups at Amex/Experian.

All this wasted time on my part with perfect credit history for many many years, and never getting this kind of treatment from other card companies is worse than frustrating. It's infuriating. If they saw my VISA Northwest account they would understand that their incompetence alone is whats costing them my business. Unfortunately there seems to be a wall constructed of incompetence. We already have one Amex card for Costco use.

The only reason I am still trying to get this change is for the opportunity to earn elite rewards. But during the last several months of this run around fiasco with Delta, my expenditures are earning flex points instead and chances for elite are now nill.

What a lousy way to start a realtionship!!

Same BS happens to me all the time.

My family is one of those who likes to do the "Sr., Jr., III, IV, etc." routine, and ever since I first started getting credit I've had accounts crossed over both ways with my dad and granddad.

Experian is the worst, they won't remove anything, despite it clearly not being mine. None of the crossed-over accounts are negative ones, though, so I just quit trying to fight it. Actually, I'm probably getting a score boost because their accounts have been open a lot longer than mine, lol.

But yeah, if you have a similar/same name as someone else and a similar address or even just the same zip code, you can wind up with headaches. The CRA's are run by idiots, and staffed by indian call centers. I saw a thing on the news, that like 70%+ of all credit reports have errors in them.
