Korean Air Skypass - Immigration question - NOT changing planes

I'm flying on Korean Air from Seoul to Cairo. It's listed as a direct flight, but we stop for 90 min. in Uzbekistan. I won't be changing planes. Does anyone know if I still have to clear through Immigration since I won't be changing planes?

Probably not, but it would be best to just call Korean Air and ask them.

my experience is that you stay on the plane.....it has happened a # of times....1 time when there was a delay, we went into the transit area....if you were required to go into the country, the air line would ahve to check that you have the required papers....don't sweat it....

if you were required to go into the country, the air line would ahve to check that you have the required papers....don't sweat it....I think "don't sweat it" is bad advice. If the OP would need an Uzbek visa, he or she might not find that out until showing up at ICN to take the flight, and be turned away. The OP needs to check in advance to be sure of getting on the plane.

I agree above. Check the advice of both the airline and country. Some countries require you to have a special transit visa while a lot of others consider you technically in the "international zone" while still on board the aircraft.

In general though, I suspect you won't have a problem. The authorities have neither the time nor patience to clear the plane, check everyone and then re-board it.

Almost 100% sure that passengers do not need Uzbek visa. Typically, two-thirds of pax on that flight would be flying to/from CAI. Had that many passengers were required to have cumbersome Uzbek visa, KE would not have made it 1-stop flight just to pick up a few more pax at TAS.

Almost 100% sure?...Sorry, you either are or aren't sure. And being sure doesn't mean being right.

Anyway, depending on the citizenship/residency of the OP they may need a visa. I agree with several other posters for the OP to check with the Uzbek Embassy/Consulate as far as entry requirements to see if they may need a transit visa.

If a visa is required, KE would have notified all the pax already which they did for GRU flight. Also, I cannot imagine all the pax going thru hassle to get the visa when they are flying to/from CAI.

If OP really wants to verify, I would say that the best way is to check with KE. Uzbek authority might not be familiar with this 1-stop flight via TAS, so they might just advise him/her to get the visa which will probably turn out to be a waste. AFAIK, this is the only 1-stop flight via TAS in the world.
