Fairmont President's Club - FPC: Is complimentary Internet access gone?

I have read several sites stating that the FPC offers free Internet. However, there is no mention of this on the Fairmont PC Benefits page.
Is this a perk that has now been discontinued? Thanks for the info.

It's plastered all over the FPC website? How did you miss it?
"President's Club experience begins the moment you arrive at any of our properties with express check-in at our private reception desk and continues during your stay with complimentary high-speed Internet access, free local calls, complimentary health club access, complimentary use of TalyorMade golf clubs, use of Fairmont Fit and so much more."

FPC continues to offer free internet to FPC members, as far as I know. Most recent stay completed July 5, no problem.

Its one of the key selling features of the program - they better not take that away!

During two recent stays (LCF and LMR) in the past three weeks, I noticed that the sign-in procedure for the free internet has been improved. You no longer need to hunt for your FPC membership number. IIRC, room number and last name was sufficient, in addaition to a drop down list to indicate FPC member.

I didn't even have to give the FPC info; just sign in to the paid service and they will take it off the bill.

Wired Internet only at Lake Louise - login asked for Presidents Club Number and Last name.
Wireless in main lodge, and certain cabins near the main lodge at Jasper - login asked for Room Number and Last name.

Just returned from a weekend trip at the Boston Fairmont Copley Plaza and definitely NO complimentary Internet access for FPC member. Also NO complimentary local calls. I made specific enquiry at check in. I booked with my FPC no. and the no. appeared on my bill. In fact, the receptionist made the point to confirm that they had my FPC no. and I received an advance welcome e-mail a few days before enquiring if I wanted to upgrade to the Gold room for an additional cost where complimentary Internet access is part of the upgrade package, including complimentary continental breakfast.
BTW there is a US$4.50 "delivery charge" for room service. Is this something new with the Fairmont chain or unique to this particular property? I very rarely order room service but just happen to notice it on the breakfast ordering form on my most recent visit to the Boston Fairmont Copley Plaza.

Suggest you remonstrate with FPC directly as their web site this evening still proclaims that amongst the FPC benefits is;
Complimentary daily in-room high-speed Internet service
I have two Fairmont reservations coming up next week and I await developments with interest.

Fairmont stays in the last month: Chateau Laurier, Queen Elizabeth, Washington DC, and Royal York. Free internet for FPC at all of them. Most recent stay was completed only last Thursday.

I've always paid a delivery charge for room service... it seems to be the norm nowadays as I've even seen hotels charge a 18% tip automatically on one bottle of wine delivered... Westin Bear Mountain
Internet should still be free for FPC

I may have found the answer in another thread at the Hotel Deals forum.
I have booked using the NFAF code. Another FT'er also booked using the NFAF code and was told (at the Fairmont Victoria) that there would be no complimentary Internet access notwithstanding the FPC membership.
The NFAF rate is not eligible for airline FF points but qualifies as FPC stay. However, it appears Fairmont is taking all the usual FPC "perks" out if using the NFAF rate.

I've had free Internet at five different Fairmonts using NFAF rate. The most recent was last week.

Do you mean the Empress? I have a booking there myself next week using the NFAF rate.
Will I be denied internet access even though we are in a Gold room?

That has not been my experience so far. Free internet, Fairmont Fit, Plat Amenities, all available at NFAF rates....

I have not seen or experienced anything that would suggest FPC benefit denial. But perhaps if you email the hotel itself, or FPC, you can get a confirmation directly from the source?

That seems like tempting providence to me. I would rather wait until the probelm arrises (if indeed it does) and then contact FPC. I have the email address of someone there after a previous issue.

Fairmont SJC, last week, NFAF rate - two computers, same room, no charge for internet.
Just picked President's Club from the drop down, entered last name and room number.
Other options were prepaid and credit.

Once in a while when I try to login into the internet from a Fairmont room it won't accept my PC# so I just click charge to my room and it always gets taken off the bill before they slip it under the door...

Contrary to what I wrote above, in view of the increasing number of reports of FPC members being denied the broadband benefit when staying on the NFAF code at some Fairmonts (specifically The Empress, where I will be staying shortly), I have tackled FPC directly about this issue and they have confirmed that the broadband facility should not be withheld.
In my case, they have specifically instructed The Empress's Front Office Manager to grant me the broadband facility. I would suggest that anyone with concerns about this (which should include anyone staying at The Empress) contact FPC beforehand and ask them to ensure that they receive the benefits due to them. It will not take many requests before FPC staff tire of dealing with such queries and ensure that the problem goes away once-and-for-all.

Thanks for clearing the air, SouthOxon. It seemed to me from the numerous responses that the withholding of FPC benefits was an isolated case, but really thanks for clearing it up and letting us know.
Cheers,

there only is one rate that is denied FPC benifits and Friends and Family is not one of them.
plus the login for the wireless and the in-room ethernet hookup asks for the FPC number and last name. Use that login and you will get access to the internet and no charges will ever appear on your room bill. You dont even have to be a guest to use the wireless in the lobby as you can pay or use the FPC login.
I just completed a stay at the Boston Fairmont Copely Plaza using the NFAF code. I asked at when checking in if Internet was complementary with FPC membership and they confirmed. No issues whatsoever.

Also no issues with Internet access at Lake Louise this weekend on the NFAF promo rate.
No problems in Singapore over the past 3 weeks for 2 different stays on the Friends & Family code.
